It's ok. Consider yourself lucky not to like it.  I took a long time for his insanity to grow on me. It is like he was intentionally making music that people wouldn't like. I guess that's part of the charm for me.

And my NEWEST and MOST IMPORTANT DISCOVERY: The Black woman who could be said to have INVENTED GRUNGE who was so ahead of her time, she was easily erased from history.  I was horrified I didn't hear of her until last year... and guess who one of her drummers was? Matt Cameron, so he was in on this history-making band!

I always thought Patti Smith was grunge with her bands sound.  Even some early hardcore could pass too.  Music is sooo much fun to debate and chat about though!

Kendrick Lamar and Mac Miller were the new faces of hiphop in 08/09?  Those two definitely were game changers to the new wave of rappers.

Big Audio Dynamite - This is BAD
  • We went from albums to songs.

    Let's keep to albums.

MC5 I could get behind, Big Audio Dynamite?  Not really.  Def Jam artists were doing what they were already.

Agreed on Patti Smith! I'd just say Tina Bell and the sounds they were making were much more directly the precursors of Grunge, but Patti Smith was a game changer on so many fronts, I'm always good with her name in the "Innovator" category ;)

I've always thought that Janice Joplin would have been a great Hardcore frontwoman.  That might be an idea for a thread!  Swap out musicians to other genre's.
