That was a fun game. Told my baseball friends last night it felt like being a kid and watching Major Leaguers play on your little league field. And of course, a movie style ending. Hell of a ninth!

Averaged 5.9 million viewers. Most for a regular season MLB game since Yankees/Red Sox in Oct 2005

It’ll get tainted.  Should make it like the Heritage/Winter Classic in Hockey.  Make it a destination event.  That would be cool.

Will leave this here since we discussed recently.  (Recall that even as a homer, I think he still has ground to make up and is border line.)

Since the hall has become the Hall of Good I say he gets in, why not?  They let in lesser players.

Here is a HOFer when I looked at their career numbers I was shocked that they got in.  But if the requirement is at least 10 years of playing then these numbers are great.

Why aren't we talking about Ohtani more?
  • F Me In The BrainF Me In The Brain this knows everybody from other commets Posts: 30,586
He is badass.  I'm having an amazing year in fantasy because of two guys I went in big on this year....Vladdy Jr and Ohtani.  Have them on three out of four teams, as hitters.  I really though Ohtani was going to rake this year - but not like he is.  40 bombs and 86 RBI in August, with many games left in the month?  He steals bases, too.

What I didn't see coming is how he has been able to be a stud pitcher as well.  I didn't think that would hold up.
To call what he is doing impressive is really selling it short.  This season is amazing, for him.
Cool to be able to watch this and wonder how long he can keep doing it, and if anyone else can be encouraged to do both and develop like this, as well

He’s unbelievable. I thought the surgery would set him back more than it did as far as pitching.   He’s the man.    Him, Vlad, and Tatis aren’t even the future anymore. They’re just outright dominating right now.

I told people to watch him in the beginning of the year.  He's special.  I figured 25 hrs or so.  Nothing like this.

I was going to go on a buying spree of his cards but didn't.  I should always listen to myself...

So he has done something that not even Babe Ruth has accomplished.  Imagine that.

Hope he does this for another 10-15 years!

Ohtani is sick.  The problem is the Anaheim Angels seem to be where baseball dies.

We've had two of the best players in baseball for 10 years and 1 playoff appearance

Wasting Trout's career relative to playoff chances is criminal.
I was out there and attended a game in the World Series and a bunch of playoff games around that time.  Crowd was rabid and very into it.  Stupid contracts (pitcher I can't recall, Josh Drugman, Pujols) sunk them.

I've never seen a game there---but I think we're going to try to catch the Astros/Angels before Ohana when we're out there. Obviously, want to see my favorite team, but really want to see Ohtani play in person as well.

It is an OK park.  Nothing special but way better than when it used to be The Big A back in the day.  Opened it up, added the rocks, etc.

The fans can be idiots but that is SoCal.  Much better than Dodgers fans.  (Not close.)
Easy access to highway, which is nice.

Halos fan since 1982.  Went to a game in 1995.  Emergency game against Seattle.  The Kingdome was literally falling apart so they played at Anaheim instead.  Paid $15 for the tix I think?  I remember being excited to see Griffey and Tim Salmon.

I was happy to get Pujols but if you aren't willing to spend on more than one player then it wasted his time here too.  The one championship we had was loaded with farm guys.  Matter of fact there isn't a HOFer on that team?

They drafted 22 pitchers this year so they see where they are lacking.  Let's hope some are quick learners so we can get going to some damn playoffs.

In regards to Trout.  If the team plays better as a whole does his WAR go down?  I always wondered about that.

Angels stadium is ok.  Went about ten years ago.  It would be good for baseball if Ohtani can get some Playoff prime time games.

BREAKING: Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association have awarded the next trading card deal licenses to Fanatics.

Topps will be out after 70 YEARS.

The general speculation in the hobby is that Fanatics will just acquire topps and basically continue that brand as their own (but I'm sure change a lot).
