    London  is surrounded  by the  motorway M25 im on the junction 22. Its green around  here. This is 5.30 am this morning  i lost the  plot  and went walking to my allotment.  So this is 10 mins walk from  my door. Im lucky to live  in a very picturesque place. This  photo is a farm

    Nice Mrat. When I cut my grass I always try to cut around the clovers. The animals and bugs depend on the weeds that a lot of people kill. Let them grow if you can.

    have seen this gal(?) flying around the backyard(s) the past couple days. first days being chased by what sounded like some crows. At least they were sounding the alarm. Yesterday I think she took flight from our tree. Today has her sitting here....

    now I have to change my rat control procedure. Dont want him getting sick from a poisoned rat.....

    Despite living in a semi-rural neighborhood, last night at around 10 PM driving down our street I caught something in my headlights I've never seen around here.  A bear!  Kind of cute to see but not really  something I want to have in the neighborhood! 
    As a kid one summer while we were camping in the Sierras, I went for a walk by myself down a creek and suddenly, right across this little stream was a brown bear.  I did what they say not to do- turned and ran!  I've been leery of bears ever since!
    In any case, I wish I had photos!

    I think Rob is asking about the 'cardinal'.  The male is bright red.
    Cool they are that color. I'd think that would make them a target for hawks but maybe not. Perhaps birds see diff colors than us.
