The Hella Mega Green Day/Fall Out Boy/Weezer tour is still scheduled for this summer, as well.

All you need to do is fly instead of drive. It's only the land border that's closed. Plus if the US reopens, we can defacto travel, because Canadian's are permitted to come home. So if the US lets us in, we're allowed to go back.

In my case the major issue would be if they reschedule the Oakland shows before I'm vaccinated,, but I'm hoping it's a non-issue.

There is also the matter of the quarantine. I want to see PJ at these fests if they happen, but do I want to be under house arrest for two weeks afterwards? Or worse, hotel quarantine with guards? What is this world coming to?

Quarantine seemed to work in Australia. They completely eliminated domestic cases and the instant one case leaks out of the quarantine hotels they lock down for the overwhelming ask of five days then they go back to normal. This might be the only way to beat covid.

They are having 70,000 fans at footy games right now, not 2022.

70,000. And that’s without masks. And they have two big cities with population over 5 million.

Regarding speculation on concerts retuning to America, I am paying attention to what doctors are saying about booster shots possibly being needed within a year. If that’s so, concerts may not be back until we learn to deal with covid like the few countries that have been able to successfully deal with it. Booster shot means variants would be defeating the current vaccines.

Are schools open by you? Here in NY suburbs they’ve been open since Labor Day and at 100% capacity 4-5 days a week since New Years . The state and media almost never brings up NY cases have been about worst in country for a couple months and pretend school is completely safe.

The USA and Europe have not been able to keep up with covid, so if health experts are thinking we will need booster shots, which could take 6-8 months to identify develop and deploy (plenty of time for a variant to wreck substantial damage) that doesn’t sound like things will be normal until we beat this the old fashioned way. Australia and others have proven how to do it, with fans in the stands.

Australia has much less people and are an isolated island in the pacific. Figure it’s easier to contain a contagious virus when you can easily restrict international travel and remain isolated. Not to mention a different economic structure. As opposed to a big country with 50 states (and 50 different protocol standard). My two cents anyway. Brighter days ahead peeps! 🤘✌️

nobody or country will "beat Covid". It's here to stay. Quarantine all you want. It will still be here when you come out. So, whats the option? Vaccines. Simple as that. World needs to move on. Impossible to stay quarantined forever, unless you want to. Have fun with that.

Schools are hit and miss up here. Both my boys (17, 13) are still attending classes with some on line learning. Other schools in the area have gone to on line only. Those schools that have an outbreak. Ontario is currently on April break so we’re waiting to see was happens next week.

My concern with Australia is when they finally open up international travel do they have massive out breaks. It would be terrible if in 2022 when life has returned to normal in many parts of the world Australia has to go into lock down.

I would add that is is too late for North America to solve it the way Australia has, albeit unclear how long lasting Australia’s solution may be. Canada tried the quarantine approach but it has largely failed. My point is that given that it has failed it is time to reevaluate if the impact on freedom of movement which is a protected right of Canadians is warranted any longer. Maybe it is, but it needs to be reviewed.

Just theatres. Maybe 5k. No reason arena's / sheds aren't full by mid summer/early fall. You can't wait until summer/fall to schedule these events. Seriously, people need to turn of the news and go outside. They will realize all is actually okay and you won't die (the science says so just look at global deaths and compare it to global population). The only thing we have to fear is fear itself and people gave in to that fear.

they actually are not climbing. The cases I am guessing you are referring to are old cases from winter that were not recorded. This inflated the current number of cases giving wrong info! This is why we should not trust the media. Listen to scientist and doctors. Not the news!!!

One thing I don't know (but I suspect I know)... Do other countries, such as Australia, have the number of anti-maskers and people traveling all over the country, or do people generally wear masks and stay close to home?

I also suspect that a lot of anti-vax people will quietly get the vaccine.

If people really want to say "all lives matter" then they need to act like it. Stay in small groups, wear masks, be responsible and get the vaccine.

Almost all Canadian’s ( at least in Ontario ) have been following the mask mandate since last May. I haven’t come across a single person not wearing a mask at any indoor public settings. We may bitch about wearing it but we still do.

I would be comfortable saying this applies to all of Canada.
