Small update on the Seattle shows.

    https://www.seattletimes.com/entertainment/music/inside-seattles-climate-pledge-arenas-ambitious-plans-to-become-a-top-10-music-venue/?fbclid=IwAR14G2L-na_SbdfNe2i7zXp7Lm3wxaTJ9VyD4c4H11tzjwMzabY1yWF96G8

During the bidding period, Leiweke dangled the possibility of an “extended residency” with hometown rock giants Pearl Jam. The band’s longtime manager Kelly Curtis, who quietly retired last year, took part in an advisory board that made recommendations on the arena’s sound and concert experience. No deal is done, though unsurprisingly, Leiweke’s willing to toss ’em the keys anytime the ticket-selling juggernauts would like.

“I’ve always made it very clear to the band, this is their city and this is their building and they can do with it as they see fit,” he says.

With all that is going on in the world and society, the Rage bassist is concerned about selling out by playing smaller shows.  Get a grip dude and stop taking yourself so seriously.   That comment is proof that the person has left the realm of reality.

Dave Chappelle playing 4 shows at Foxwoods casino in CT in late June.
    No social distancing, full capacity.
All patrons will be given a rapid Covid test before entering the theater. If they test positive they will be denied entry along with the rest of their party.
Its a 2,000 seat theater. Think that's about as big a venue as you could do this for. No way you could test 15-20K people for an arena show.

Anyone ever hear of Moon Taxi or The Caverns?  Apparently this is how some smaller bands are approaching playing in 2021 and I'd love to see an EV acoustic show like this (doubt it happening but I'd take it).

    https://www.thecaverns.com/above-ground/moon-taxi

Went to this on Satruday and it was great. It was so awesome to be at a show again.
It was a little "different" with the social distanced pods, but it did not kill the vibe.

I honestly thought that concerts would be 2022 , I am thinking that we will see some shows in 2021. Smaller shows (4K tops )  but still live music.

I thought that there was no way I was going to even get my first does of the vaccine until June ( 42 & healthy ) and I am getting it on Thursday.

    We may be surprised

That’s awesome. There is an absolute difference between playing a place that is sold out vs. 20% full. For everyone involved, the artist and the fans. Dave Chappelle is helping to lead. I bet PJ could pull off rapid tests for 18K.  Let’s go!

Rapid tests or just require proof of vaccination which everyone who wants to attend can acquire by showtime with the postboned dates finally announced months ahead of time. Let’s go!!!

We’ll be seeing much larger shows than 4K by mid-summer. I’m not saying that’s safe or right but it’s going to happen.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Rapid tests OR proof of full vaccination would get us back to concerts this year without a doubt.  Especially if the Texas Rangers pull off a full capacity baseball game and we dont see any sort of signs of it being a "super spreader" , I think the flood gates will open.

If I wasn't vaccinated, I wouldn't set foot in a venue relying on rapid tests.

Agree.  I just got vaccinated and debating on trying an outdoor astros game soon.  Biden said 90% of adults could be eligible in 3 weeks.  If this is the case, and there is a vaccination passport rollout like they’re trying in NY, I think we could see some major shows late this year

While I would not go either why would you not be vaccinated in that case though? We are talking about the future here. Are you not able to get vaccinated in the next couple of months? It is a non issue is it not by summer since you will be vaccinated?

Some will get vaccinated and some won't. The rapid tests while not 100% reliable are there to prevent someone that is symptomatic getting into the show and is more than likely not vaccinated. Nobody is asking you today to go to a full show not vaccinated and having to rely on rapid tests.

Yah reality is a thing and life rolls on. Lots of planning goes into tours and the planners have to plan ahead. Maybe not a great example but let’s say MSG is under construction today but will be open in six months. They are capable of booking the tour stop for when the venue will be back open regardless of it being closed today. This sounds so obvious and I get that the pandemic has been less predictable than a construction schedule but the trajectory of vaccination availability and the proven effectiveness of the vaccine should be sufficient for planning a tour stop six months out from today.
