    and how do you guys feel about McCready adding it to Yellow Ledbetter? Is that ok or is that needless as well?

    Personally I  can go either way on it at sporting events. If it isn't played it won't make a difference to me. If it is I will stand and respect it.

    How about him playing it before sporting events?  He does it at the end of YLB for Hendrix.

    I love McCready ending the night w/ YLB --> Anthem. I've seen it a handful of times, and it's my preferred way to see PJ close a show. 

    I'm with you on the last sentiment. I could take it or leave it, and when it's played I stand & remove my hat.

    As a teacher I wish they would change the law about the pledge, we literally say it every single morning; it is so weird to me.  Maybe say it on Monday morning to start the week but every day is overkill to me.   I could go either way with the National Anthem at sporting events but I do wish they would drop God Bless America at Yanks games (not sure if all baseball teams play it).

    you still do the pledge of allegiance?  that's pretty crazy to me. surprised that is still ongoing. even as a kid I found that a little weird to do.

    I believe he’s done it before several Seattle MLB games as well.

    I can’t recall where, but I remember as a kid seeing my dad rise for the anthem, and thus doing it too. It (and the flag) meant much to him, given his WWII battles - among other things.

     Merlin, your comment about forced patriotism is spot-on.

    I think most teams do God Bless America on Sundays.
    It's really, really difficult to stop doing something that's "patriotic" because it's always viewed as "so, you don't like America, anymore?"

    Yeah I really don't care either way.  When you think about it, it is pretty strange that it is played prior to every sporting event here.  But man it would be weird to go to a Blackhawks game at the UC and not hear the crowd go insane while the anthem is played.

    I just wish all the "patriots" who get all up in arms about the anthem stuff and associate it with disrespecting the military would have that same type of vitriol for the way our veterans are actually treated in this country.  Something that actually fucking matters and that we should be all up in arms over.

    Always felt America The Beautiful would’ve been a better national anthem. Just a better song. And it’s actually about the land and not just the flag like the star spangled banner is. They actually open WrestleMania with that every year.

    i don't see the point of playing the national fucking anthem at a domestic sporting event. kind of stupid in my opinion.

    during a medal ceremony at the olympics? sure. but before a high school baseball game? nah.

    What’s even dumber is the NHL and playing the national anthem....nhl rosters are made up of players from many different countries...
