    Don't people generally enjoy cameos, at least in non serious roles and movies? Like Rob Schnieder or Adam Sandler when they appear in the other's movies, or Stan Lee in all the Marvel movies. Trump wasn't disliked back then, at least not that I recall, so I wouldn't think it a big deal to add him as a cameo. Doesn't seem like a big deal for something that happened 30 years ago. If he pulled that 5 years ago that would be lame.

    I was going to add, because I didn't make my point very clear, I bet they were all more than happy to oblige. Trump was well liked, and well liked among celebrities (I assume so anyway, or the celebrity apprentice wouldn't have lasted for several seasons). My guess is it just sounds like something that probably was as you described - a fun agreement- and only in the last few years has the story changed to this mean, he demanded it, story. That's my guess.  I just read an article from Matt Damon on the topic, like he knows anything about Home Alone 2, making it sound like everyone puts in all this extra work for a scene that last 3 seconds. Just was so over the top, as if they weren't already filming there or there wasn't already a camera crew and so on, it sort of gave me that impression.

    What made me roll my eyes in an article with Matt Damon explaining the cameo. I don't have it up anymore, but he said you have the entire crew and writers working half the day to get a shot of Trump waving for his cameo. I'm not involved in movies, but to me that sounds ridiculous. You're already doing a scene in the lobby, you already have the whole camera crew filming a scene. If your team of writers on set can't come up with a line about asking for directions in less than 30 seconds, you need new writers. And your camera crew can't manage to swing the camera to the side for 3 seconds to get a shot of Trump without rearranging their schedule for the day, you need a new crew.
    Its kind of a dumb point, I don't know why I'm arguing it. It just seems more likely it was a request that was happily honored and then 30 years later when he's president they decide to complain about it.

    fine, i'm not talking about matt damon, i'm referring to the director.

    but he does do movies, and he would know how these things work. neither of us do. i don't think setting up for a completely different scene in a movie is nearly as easy as you think it is. from things i've read and movie commentaries i've watched, sometimes a 10 second scene can literally take hours to set up. 

    i'm not sure why you think it's more likely that trump was some fun loving awesome guy that everyone liked and now all of a sudden he's a narcissistic ass. narcissism isn't like dementia; it's not mostly dependent on age.

    The more pathetic part is I saw a reference to a tweet Jr made, complaining about how Canadian TV cut his dad's cameo out a couple years ago and what a disgrace that was to the movie.

    The 7 second clip was cut back in 2014, which happens with most movies when they are being edited for length to fit into a television broadcast.

    I was working under the assumption they didn't need to do anything extra for the scene. They were planning on filming "Kevin"  walking through the lobby anyway. There were going to be dozens of extras walking around. One of those extras was just Trump. Probably didn't require any changes at all to the day, other than making sure his make up was done. 
    But you're probably right. If no one likes him now, they probably didn't back then. We just didn't hear about it because no one cares about it when he was just another celebrity and not the leader of our country.
