Canadian Bands/Artists

I figured it was time to start a thread that was all encompassing of music from the GWN. I'm not going to create a thread for every artist I like from my country (I've done several already lol). This might help some of my global friends to discover music they may not have previously been exposed to.

Post your favourite canadian bands/musicians. Big or small. Local or national. Doesn't matter. Just one rule.....

No Celine or Shania or Bryan Adams allowed.
Darwinspeed, all.

Cheers,

HFD

I'll start. Here's one of the most popular songs from the band The Headstones (the lead singer is my namesake).

It's a cover of the Travelling Wilburys song Tweet and the Monkeyman. Most people that I know thought for years this was actually a Headstones original, since it bears little to no resemblance in style to the Wilburys' version.

It always brings the house down as one of the last songs they play.

Good call on this thread OP! This was my last pre-pandemic show in Calgary and it was fantastic. Andy also sings for the band Foxwarren. A Saskatchewan product. Not in my usual wheelhouse but his solo stuff are like stories.

I'm a Yankee, but my favorite acts from Canada are Rush, Triumph & Leonard Cohen.

That was a great song. I think they were somewhat of a one hit wonder in the U.S. but wasn’t sure if they were bigger in Canada.
