I know exactly where you are talking about - I pass it all the time but NEVER seen the Pacific. Its probably a discreet little entrance - like the adult bookshops and brothels in that same block :D.

Nah you'll be right. Whilst it aint the nicest part of town its VERY busy so you cant drop a smoke bomb and just go missing off the face of the earth.

And yep not worth the one night thing. Two gives you a bit more time to look around. Take the ferry over to the zoo one day - thats nice

I was originally going to stay at 'Somerset Darling Harbour'. Do you know of that? Would it be better.....I'm going to be by myself, so don't want to be anywhere 'stranger danger-ish' :o

I spose it's a busy time of year and they know that people are going to book flights weather they're on special or not :(

I think I'm just going to change Glenns flights for the meet up to my Sydney flights. I don't think he's going to need them.

Isnt Glenn going to the meet up??

If you're staying two nights.. i'd recommend the Maestri Towers.... i had a great place that overlooked darling harbour on the powderchair/Snow Patrol APEC weekend heh... it was the Penthouse Suite though... so maybe i can't compare the other rooms with that haha

but i just saw it on Wotif.. for a reasonable Wed/thurs, but i shall check out their own website for you as sometimes that's cheaper anyway! :)

Yeah booking online is the way to go....
When I went to Melb by phone booking they wanted to charge me $230 a night online it was $135 and we had the option of late checkout or breaksfast.
We took the breaksfast it wouldve cost us $60 for brekkies so was a good bonus...:)

    Check this site....

    http://www.wotif.com.au

    and maybe http://www.lastminute.com.au

i refuse to use http://www.hotelclub.com now.. they rip you off.....

Surely it's worth spending $50 extra on your first time in Sydney trip to get somewhere nicer than the Pacific International... hehe.... the views would be atrocious!! (if any view at all) although you might get a good view of the central YMCA .... :)

What you should actually do is look it up on the net before you ring them.... they have to pay the websites money!... so they'll do the same price as online as they don't have to pay the fee to the website.... generally anyway... I've found ringing them and saying "but it says $$$ on ... (whatever website you go to)"

Nope dont know it. No part of the city is generally any more dangerous than another (except maybe the Cross or nightclubs frequented by young boys in adidas 3-stripe tracksuits with sick mags on their cars).

Who put the scare factor in you? It aint that bad!

Places like octopustravel buy blocks of accom same price 365 days a year, but the hotel changes their prices depending on public holidays, weekends or if a big name is in town.
When I rang and they quoted $230 that was for the RHCP. And they told me thats why its dearer when I queried the price.
