I hope he gets a amount he’s happy with and has a amazing time in Europe. But maybe a little research would have helped him.

All that confusion sounds like he really was uniformed about the real value.  

In any case... it seems like eBay is the best place for it as auctions aren’t allowed here and he probably unintentionally created an avalanche of PM’s after he posted.

The $4,900 average is severely skewed by two outliers: a uniquely custom-doodled and hand-colored one from Emek that auctioned for $8,600 and a questionable $5,995 ebay "sale" which probably wasn't paid because there's still an active ebay listing for the same price.

A signed/doodled one like the OP's sold on August 11 for $2k (and another two weeks later for $3k). I paid $2k for a signed/doodled last December and bought and sold an unsigned to a member here for $1,900 in March. So his original asking price of $2k is probably low but not absurdly low. Agree though that since he apparently wanted to auction it, this isn't the place. 

I suspect part of the sudden avalanche was due to a trade post in another group offering a PJ20 Billboard for a 96 Charlotte, which the guy then said he didn't really want to give up.

I don't have a pic unfortunately, but this thing was doodled like nothing I have ever seen before.
