I am loving D-wight w the Lakers this year.  He seems very comfortable in his role for them.  I don't think he ever wanted to be a leader and he has that luxury now.

I wasn't a fan prior to this year either...

I never liked him as the "leader" of the team, much like Melo.  Both were great but the light they were put in on was a bad look.

    Why don't u like him?

Nowitzki and Doncic weren't exactly "hopes".

No, but Nowitzki made it to 9th in the draft and Mavs traded to down a few spots and still were able to get him and they made the trade up with Hotlanta for Doncic. They seem to be a little better informed on just how good those guys are/were than most of the league.

Doncic wasn't a secret though. You knew he was good, wasn't a Milocic.

I did think Ed Najera was gonna kill in the nba... So there is that, lol.

Can we say that the process didn't work now?
    Really its the post process.
The process got them Embiid and Simmons, then they tried to go all in for an instant title shot rather than building to it for a couple more years and those moves have largely been wrong.
The move to trade up to 1 for Fultz was the first backfire (and if Ainge is to be believed Fultz would have been there at 3 as he claims Tatum was his guy all along, and Lakers were clearly going to take Ball). Then they made the 2 trades last season, pushing all their chips in and letting go some good young assets and picks. And they gave up on Fultz (who will never live up to the #1 overall pick, but is contributing now in Orlando) and got compete crap in return. They were close last year, but had traded for a bunch of free agents and had a few of their own (most notably JJ) to deal with. So suddenly they have a lot of guys to try and re-sign and cap space is becoming tighter as Embiid and Simmons get towards the end of their rookie deals. They should have stuck with Butler and let Harris go as we've seen Butler is a guy who rises to the occasion in big moments. Harris is a good piece, but really a 3rd or 4th option guy on a contender and he gets a max deal. Clippers offer before the trade of 20mil a season was more in line with his worth. Then they let Reddick go and doubled down on the going big by signing Horford to a ridiculously bloated 4 year deal (and I thank them as it got him to opt out of his final year in Boston and gave the Celts the cap space to singe Kemba). So now they have far less outside shooting in a league that's all about spacing and 3 balls.
So really the failed moves have all been after what was known as "The process".

Everything they've done though hasn't produced a championship. So trusting the process didn't pan out.

Embiid is great but has health issues and Simmons refuses to develop an outside shot.

I don't see how it was a success at all.

Never said it was a success, but "the process" as Juggs will tell you was Sam Hinkie's deal, and he was usurped by the Colangelo family just as the pieces began to fall into place, and from that point, the moves made were more focused on immediate success and most have not panned out. The "trust" quickly disappeared from the front office once Hinkie was gone.
That's why I said its post process that failed. The Process got them into position to contend, then 2 new GM's f'ed things up in the past 4 years.

I see what you r saying but calling any part of it a success is a stretch.  If making the playoffs is a success then by all means celebrate, then you've become the Knicks.

I was actually coming around to appreciating what they did but the team suffers from arrested development and can't get to that next phase which you elaborated on why.

I won't argue that.  Miami looks good but not better than those 2 teams.
