one reporter had a good question: "what's stopping the NRA from just moving out of the state of NY and starting up again in (another state)?". they most assuredly will. i highly doubt this is the end of the NRA
"every society honours its live conformists and its dead troublemakers"
I have never been a fan of the NRA and would not give them a dime. There are way better state level organizations for gun owners that offer way better support. I wonder if they will just move to another state...surely they will, right?
and the thing is, if you're angry at the justice system for dissolving a business that defrauded its members, instead of the business for defrauding you, you're a fucking idiot.

This exactly
It is very easy to do the necessary research to find out the administrative costs of a non-profit. Anything over 10% is too much.
i'm uncomfortable with one reporter's question, asking if she fears for her personal safety as a result of this motion.
yep, give ideas for nutjobs.
i think the nutjobs already have ideas. that is why they are nutjobs.
I know, i just find it to be a highly irresponsible question.
yeah you are right. i think she had probably taken that into consideration at some point during the 18 months investigation.
i am sure that she feels she has a great chance at winning and that she will be safe, otherwise she probably would not have filed the suit.
We just had the son of a federal judge killed.
I think it’s an unfortunate but perfectly reasonable question. I think it also shows the true colors of the NRA when it’s probably most people’s first thoughts on their response.

Just in case the word socialism put you off here is what the community represents.
” The SRA describes the goal of their organization as "to provide an alternate to the mainstream, toxic, right-wing, and non-inclusive gun culture that has dominated the firearms community for decades. We seek to provide a safe, inclusive, and left-leaning platform for talking about gun rights and self defense, free from racist and reactionary prejudices, while providing a platform for the working class to obtain the skills necessary for all aspects of community defense".[22]The group describes itself as "working class, progressive, anarchist, socialist, communist, eco-warrior, animal liberator, anti-fascist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, PoC, LGBTQ-plus".[23]”

Question: Do those in the SRA who refer to themselves as an "animal liberator" use their guns "liberate" animals or other people?

I’m not an expert unfortunately. It is the only alternative that I know of to the NRA. I can ask my friends and learn more. I’m guessing that they wouldn’t use their guns to liberate anything unless it was actually needed, but I could be wrong.

My best guess is that they are about as likely as some NRA guys to rise up against a tyrannical government.

Which, of course, is a farce. Nobody is going to overthrow the government. That kind of effort would be squashed in a flat minute. The whole "arm yourself to protect yourself against the government" thing is a fantasy.

Exactly my point. I just see the SRA as a gun club for lefties.

I'm not one to think that we will see the time when civilians are at war with our government, but then again, things just keep getting more tense and divisive.

This is true. I think what we may see is an escalation in the conflict between BLM and other protesters and far right nationalist types- maybe even to the point of some lethal violence- but an outright civil war with large numbers of casualties and massive military type fighting? I doubt it. Most people have no interest in getting involved in that sort of thing- only a very small percentage of people will go that far. I know I won't, and very few people if any that I know and am close to would. I just don't see it happening. I sure hope not anyway.
