I think it depends on where you live though. If I was making 99k in the middle of South Dakota, I'd be faring pretty well, but in the middle of LA, not so much. That's why these checks are pretty pointless for the most part, besides the fact that they will just be hoarded by most people instead of spent. Mine is going right to savings and pumping up the family emergency fund. Some day it will make it in to the economy, but not any time soon.

This is exactly what I did with ours. We got $2900. put $500 in the general sending fund, maybe let the wife get herself something for having to put up with me in the house. The rest went right into the family war chest. 

I do do like the idea of kicking some to the Biden campaign though...

If someone makes less than $150k but has a mortgage so high $3400 isn’t going to help then they probably already made some bad decisions (except maybe NYC and San Francisco)

I was just poking fun at mrussel's bank transactions. I'm not really complaining about the amount. It's enough to pay my mortgage and utilities for one month...so I'll happily take it.
