It rocks, and the reaction would be a lot different if it was given a more prominent place on the track list. It could have been the opener, and if you flipped it with Who Ever Said people would have lost their minds over it and dismissed WES.
I don’t think it’s a song people would ever lose their minds over. It’s a song like mfc, stuck in a similar album position. It serves to pick up the tempo of the album well.
MFC is one of my absolute favorites.

ND is a good song.  Great riff from Eddie

    I dig it!

Comes Then Goes & Superblood are my least favorites...and I still like them plenty. They made one seriously great album.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

The only song I'm not getting is Buckle Up.  I am not big on the slower tunes but they don't bother me on this album like Just Breathe, Future Days, the End, etc.

I have to agree, it just feels out of place. I like Stone songs, even Mankind, but I just feel like this should have been saved for a b side release. The dark lyrics to the strange happy music are kinda cool though

I love Never Destination - Great tune! Buckle Up, however, is a different story. For those out there that pride themselves on chasing the rare songs, I think you might have to see Buckle Up on the gigaton tour because I don't know if that one makes it to another tour.

    Love the Tom Petty-esque outro
Glad to see I’m not the only one who was getting that vibe. Agree that it’s a fun change of pace in the song

I agree, I'm not going to warm up to Buckle Up.

Again - nothing but love for this track. One of Gigatons strengths is its sequencing. I LOVE where they placed this one. I also love the sounds they used in the intro leading up to the first chord. There whole band is on in this one.

On your next listen - listen to what Stone is doing under Mike during his solo. So so good.

After my 1st 2 listens to the whole album, I woke up in the middle of the night with Never Destination on replay in my head.  I'm not a fan of other songs like it but for some reason, this one is so good.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

I'm glad to not be alone on this. I love this song. May be my favorite on Gigaton at the moment.

It's not necessarily good or bad but reminds me more of the 80s than DotC.
  • Gonna be really fun live.

Great song.  Second best on the album after Seven O'Clock.

It took me a few days but I finally got it. Amazing song. Killer lyrics.
  • Never Destination is like a song that would have been written for Backspacer/LB but given a bit more depth and maturity to the sound.  Lightning Bolt's older brother

One of the best songs on the record. And judging by the words, one of the most personal. To me, it's written from the point of view of Ed himself. Sounds like a song about a man that's been going at it for a long time and is unwilling to give up.

The mention of Bob Honey and Paul Theroux...Bob a character that went mad from the world and Paul, an author that has openly trashed celebs and rock stars for trying to fight the good fight. If he dies, let him go to THAT place where nothing matters anymore, but until then you'll have to knock him off the shelf.

Theres a few other things in the lyrics that feel to me as being very true to Ed's life. How many times have we heard Ed say "see ya tomorrow/later" at the end of a show and not "goodbye"? Lots. Theres a dash of 'Jet Airliner' and 'Travelin Band' in the bones of this tune. The song ends on the mention of another singer in a rock n roll band that turned herself into a hologram...a spectral vision of color with no definition. Not solid. Not real. That is the opposite of Ed. But it was her choice.

Kinda reminds me of Corduroy in spirit and theme, just from a fella that's been transformed from a person that was kinda disgusted with his success and is now a 50 something year old that's still playing the fuck out of his guitar and for all the right reasons.

Bit of a messy post, but I just think this tune has a TON more to offer than what some folks are hearing. I think it's brilliant.
