Great time for Self-Pollution Radio 2020? -Self-Quarantine 2020-

Tour dates postponed are now a reality. The new album, "Gigaton" will be released March 27th

The band will need to look at other areas to help promote the LP and to reach out to fans.

How'about something similar to Self Pollution Radio? The band could live stream from their Seattle studio, playing new songs, old songs,  talking with fans, etc, etc,,, much like the Self Pollution Radio sessions in 95.

Make one session exclusive for Ten Club members with unique email codes to enter live stream...?

Thoughts?

Hey. . . am I on?” were the uncertain first words delivered by Pearl Jam lead singer-cum-DJ Eddie Vedder at the start of the band’s latest frolic on the airwaves, “Self-Pollution Radio.” The four and a half hour show, broadcast on Jan. 8, was a Seattle scenester’s delight, featuring live sets from Pearl JamSoundgarden, Mudhoney, the Fastbacks and Mad Season (a satellite project for Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and Alice in Chains‘ Layne Staley, previously known as the Gacy Bunch), a spoken-word piece from Nirvana‘s Krist Novoselic, tracks from Novoselic, tracks from Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl’s upcoming solo album, impromptu interviews and much more.

Would love another self pollution radio.  Especially in modern era where you can easily stream it to everyone.

That being said... the tour was starting right around the time the album was dropping.   I'm not sure how much promotion artists need to do these days.  Albums don't really sell many copies.  The diehards buy them.  That's why they have a moderate first week then drop off the charts.

Still. just for the hell of it, it would be awesome.

Agree on how album promotion is different these days...

Even if not critical for album promotional reasons. I think a modern version of SPR would be a great avenue to reach out to fans in a really positive and personal way.

I was going to post this very idea, glad you guys beat me to it. Live stream it via PJ Radio/YouTube and whatever other platforms they can come up with. Just seeing and hearing the band would boost the spirits of a lot of fans who are in a bad place right now. Not just because of the tour news but because of everything else going on in the world. Maybe even have fans live stream in some questions so its more interactive. I've seen some "movements" start on this very board so lets keep this thread going and hope for the best.

This would be a great way to reach out to fans who are bummed about the situation and a way to give the new tunes a a few hot laps around the track.  The band has a real opportunity here to impress us with a creative fan outreach which was one of their strengths in their first decade.

I'm sure they're throwing around some new ideas with the current situation. I know people enjoyed the Lightning Bolt interviews with Gleason, Apatow, Mark Richards & Carrie Brownstein. Just expand on that idea and we're there ;)

Bump - this seriously needs to happen! They could also raise funds for COVID-19 relief efforts and research too.

I'll bump this all day long! There's at least two other threads as well, wish they were merged into one. I love the fund raising idea as well. Help out the families directly impacted, they'd generate a ton of money with something like this.

Everyone start sharing this on your socials. Let’s at least give it a shot!
Hi, I host a Pearl Jam Podcast. We go back to some of the classic shows in their history and break down the entire setlist front to back. From historic perspective, to performances, to setlist construction, to fan stories. We do our best to capture the magic that is their live act and help you relive those memories, or if you weren't there, maybe turn you on to a show you've never heard before.

Live On 4 Legs can be found on Apple Podcast, Spotify and any other major podcast platform. But please support our website and check out the episodes archived there. Oh, and the Concertpedia as well (for you Five Horizons and Two Feet Thick fans, we've picked up where they've left off)

This is definitely one of the better ideas on the forum. It would obviously be awesome to hear them play a couple new songs but even better I think it would give fans a brief escape from all the craziness lately. Just like thousands of others I was really looking forward to a couple of shows (Nashville & STL) and extremely bummed about the postponement.  It would be such an awesome gesture from the band to hear from them in a “self pollution” type setting. With all the warnings about travel and large gatherings, even pro sporting events, something like this would give us something positive, fun and a brief escape all from the comfort of our homes. I doubt it would ever happen but I LOVE the idea.
