I'm at least glad it seems like we're done pretending backspacer is this awful album when it's really quite solid.0

There is no such thing as an awful PJ album.I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.0

Some are just significantly better than others.cdthomas1981 said:There is no such thing as an awful PJ album.Pittsburgh 1998 • Pittsburgh 2006 • 2012 Isle Of Wight Festival • 2012 Made In America Festival • Baltimore 2013 • Seattle 2013

It’s uneven, it has its high points but the bad songs are just so much worse than pretty much any of the other songs that made it onto pj albums.mshnayder said:I'm at least glad it seems like we're done pretending backspacer is this awful album when it's really quite solid.0 -
I can agree with the opinion of it being uneven. That's a reason I wanted to try to move around the track listing, because I think the "rockers" and the more dramatic tracks are clumped together too much. Usually, I prefer to have them more dispersed like I did up above.KN219077 said:

This is a cool thread, covering a handful of different things at this point.Closers? My list:
- Release
- Indifference
- Inside Job
- All Those Yesterdays
- The End
- Around The Bend
- All of None
- Parting Ways
- Future Days
- Stupid Mop

What really drove my reordering of Backspacer was my want to change up the closer. I did this with a reorder of Avocado a while back too, where I wanted to try Come Back at the end and I love it. It's not to say I don't like The End and Inside Job as closers, but I like Come Back and Just Breathe even more.

Likewise, I can't see Gonna See My Friend as anything else but an opener. I didn't bother trying that out in different spots of the track listing.

I like this re-order. Not to derail too much, but I did a deluxe Binaural playlist a few years back where I added in the Lost Dogs tracks from that recording period timeframe. It was hard to fit in some and I think I ended up making Sweet Lew a hidden track after Parting Ways. It would be a terrible normal track to end on. And actually, looking at that playlist, I am going to reorder it again. I don't like the placement of some songs now.cdthomas1981 said:What really drove my reordering of Backspacer was my want to change up the closer. It's a hopeless situation...0 -
I dont feel like SBWM is a fit for Backspacer at all.0
-
It doesn't fit for me either. I definitely don't pick up on Johnny Guitar similarities that some have mentioned. The only comparison I could get on board with is in relation to the poppier sound and upbeat mood. Nothing on LB seemed like this so naturally people associate to the next closest album.Abe Froman said:I dont feel like SBWM is a fit for Backspacer at all. It's a hopeless situation...0 -
I agree. I don’t hear the Johnny Guitar comparisons either. So far both singles seem very unique from anything we have previously heard. Obviously SBWM has a little more classic PJ sound but still is very new to me. It’s also stuck in my head on a daily basis!tbergs said:

It's stuck in my head too! I love DotC, but it hasn't been constantly playing in my head as much as SBWM.Abe Froman said:
