Next President

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we had a President that did nothing like prior Presidents, pissed off the long term political appointees and challenged the status quo? Haven’t our political machines been in place way too long and need some shaking up that would make people in DC nervous?
What do you think the DC squatters would do if they ever encountered a President like that? Wouldn’t it be incredible to see them get their ire up and being challenged by someone who didn’t play by their rules?
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

It would be great to have a president who doesn't subscribe to the D.C. status quo or play by their rules.
But not if that president is a lying racist xenophobic white nationalist that tries to whip up his supporters with a rhetoric full of, and based on, fear, hate, ignorance, jealousy, and lies.0 -
i think the next president needs to start by legitimizing themselves by winning the popular vote, AND the fucking electoral college."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Interesting the both responses were regarding LAST election. I'm talking about the NEXT President. Do we want DC status quo or someone who will shake up the establishment?

I'd love a truly non-partisan president. Will never happen. But how great would that be? One that just runs the executive branch of the government without any bias towards either party. One that acts in the best interest of the people when needed (disaster relief, etc.), but otherwise, lets the Congress have it out among themselves, and whatever legislation gets passed, lands on his/her desk to sign or veto.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. And sure, things need to happen without congress. But our hypothetical, non-partisan president will be capable of making those decisions with consultation of his cabinet, generals, etc. It's just that his decision wouldn't be influenced by party-line narratives.
It's all fun to think about in an alternate universe.

I think he would do it by focusing on the needs of the peopled and the environment. I think he would be well liked outside this country and, man, oh man, do we need to do a better job of that! Yes, true, he does not have a lot of political experience, but what good are most politicians doing for the people and the planet now? It's plain to see, not enough and not fast enough. Yang knows the score, he sees where we're heading, he knows what we need. He's smart enough to come up with good ideas and wise enough to seek help from people with experience and expertise in areas he is not as strong in (and no one is strong in all areas). We need to move forward. The world is changing rapidly and the established order is crumbling. It is going to crumble and if we aren't prepared, it will swallow us all and leave us in shambles. Yang sees this, is not only not afraid to confront it, but eager to do so.

so I’m not asking which branch should be more powerful. I’m just asking if anyone thinks shaking up the establishment would be good. Yes, it would be uncomfortable. Do you think making established politicians and bureaucrats uncomfortable is a good or bad thing?Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
