You will DEFINITELY want to stay out of the circle pits.
  • I had GA for MSG N2 16.  Met up with my buddy at some bar 15 minutes before show time, he was running late. We pounded 3 yagerbombs and showed up to msg 5 minutes before showtime, found a nice spot in the back and had a great time. I'm 5'6" and saw the stage just fine. If you want rail, show up at least 24-30 hours showtime. I saw the rail riders from night 1 walking out msg and going right back to where the line for ga starts.
This is just sad. I mean, to each their own, but going through all of that just to get "the rail" seems like wasted time(or Life Wasted, derp). I've been on many rails, but never waited. I usually get pushed to it by someone in back of me or some other nonsense.
1991- Hollywood Palladium, California with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains -RIP Magazine Show Oct. 6th
    1992- Lollapalooza, Irvine, California
    Nothing since then. I suck.
2016- Fenway Park, Boston - Both glorious nights
    2022- Oakland Night 2
    2024 Sacramento, CA

The shows are absolutely enjoyable in rows located behind the rail.  Spread the word people.

I gotta say - it used to be that the pit was a friendly place. You move around...go up front for a bit and jump around, then maybe hang back a few songs.  Now it's become insanely territorial and I hate it. Full of entitled fans who wont budge, stand their ground and get super arsey if you want to go forward for a song or 2.  I kinda get it if you've been queuing for 2 days to get up front (which personally I think is a bit much) but I've found the pit not a great experience the last few shows...just my opinion.
agree with this 100%. The pit at Seattle 2 Homeshow was awful. Drunk people pushing and shoving left and right, just to move up a couple of feet. this is to say nothing of the guy who did nothing but yell at the top of his lungs "Chris Cornell" the entire freaking show.   assuming these were the stubhub people and not the actual 10c fans. expect more from us.
That reminds me of the guy in Moline (seats...not GA) that kept yelling "put your guitar away and sing" to Eddie for about a half hour stretch.  Someone either knocked him out or he passed out.

Guy in front of me at Fenway held his middle finger up when Ed started talking a bit political. Not even sure what Ed said now but he held his hand up for a good half hour. The girl he was with finally had enough and pushed it down. The same group decided to bring in 3 of their friends into their row which was supposed to be only 6 seats long. They ended up pushing the actual seat holders out of their seats and too shy to say anything. Luckily we had a couple of seats next to us that were not used and they joined us the rest of the show.

Jerks everywhere. The key is to not let it bother you and enjoy the show!

I was right by that guy.  He puked all over himself and was dragged out.

Should Pearl Jam handling their GA line like Springsteen?
    —————————————-——————————————————-

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND GENERAL ADMISSION PIT LINE
    1. On the day of the show, sequentially numbered wristbands will be distributed beginning at 2:00 PM at the gate. Wristbands will be distributed until 5:00 PM.
    2. A starting number will be randomly picked at 5:15 PM; this will be announced and displayed on a placard at the gate. No more wristbands will be distributed after 5:00 PM.
    3. 5:30 PM - All fans with GA tickets and a wristband should begin lining-up in numerical order, beginning with the announced number. The line will be escorted into the GA Pit Area in front of the stage approximately 10 minutes before the rest of the patrons are allowed to enter the venue.
    4. One wristband per patron and the patron must also be in possession of a GA ticket.
    5. A wristband and a GA ticket are required to enter the GA Pit Area in front of the stage.
    6. The starting number will be drawn randomly at 5:15 PM by a fan. The fan holding the wristband that matches the starting number drawn will be first in line (i.e. if #'s 1 - 100 were issued and number 10 was drawn, the line would start with 10, then 11, 12, 13 through 100 then 1-9). When the starting number is announced, the line will shift accordingly.
    7. The purpose of the random number distribution is to insure that all fans have the same chance of being first in line, eliminating the need to camp out. This policy also helps to insure customer safety and provides for an effective means of crowd control.
    9. Anyone who receives a numbered wristband between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM has a chance to be first in line to enter the Pit Area, but a wristband does not guarantee a place in the Pit Area.
    10. Wristbands will be issued and affixed to the patron’s wrist only after the patron's ticket has been verified a GA ticket.

I’ve wondered why PJ hasn’t done this, especially places like Wrigley where you can’t camp. That’s exactly how they used to do ticket sales before the internet. But there’d still be idiots camping out since midnight and pissed they wound up in the back of the line.
I really like this policy.  What does this mean part mean?.... " wristband does not guarantee a place in the Pit Area."
  • At Wrigley N1 in 16, a drunk guy kept trying to push his way through the crowd towards the front right after the first encore started (he was claiming his friends were up front). Another fan stepped in his way and told him his friends weren't up front. They got heated, so I moved between my wife and the 2 guys before they got into a shoving match. The drunk guy ended up leaving.
  • The crazier you are in the pits, the more the band likes it!
  • Has anyone seen the LA show from 11.23.13?  20 min in, Ed loses it on some girl up front.  Does anyone know what she was doing?  He had security move her.
I've seen quite a few Pearl Jam shows.

Search the fanview thread in Given 2 Fly for that show. I think she posted in it if memory serves me right.

I'd love to read what she had to say about that whole incident, I think it'd be quite funny. I tried searching in Given 2 Fly but couldn't find it. I'll continue to search for it but if anyone else does find it please PM me or post a link on this thread. Thx in advance!

Not trying to restart this argument or cause attention back to this poster but a good read for sure.
  • What about the railer in line for 48 hrs...their +1 can skip the wait and enter at “doors open” with the phone holder.

I mean, the rational side of me says the railer goes to the end of the line or screw their +1 right?

Like I always say: “If you want Ed’s wine, you gotta do the time (in line).”   I’m sorry, just being an idiot for laughs.  I’ll be hanging back in GA in StL.  We’re really all too old for pushing and shoving.  I shun human contact from strangers. Need the freedom to go get another beer at the start of evenflow/betterman/jeremy/daughter/alive.  Still get back for that tag/solo!
Exactly this. Except i'll be in the back at OTT.

Like this fucking guy?  Too funny.  (Except his twin sat in the row behind me at one of the Forum 2006 shows.  Damn that stuff stunk!)

  • Had GA philly ‘13. Jumped on line about 15 mins before doors opened and I was 10 feet from the rail mikes side.
