Not a fan of Rush at all, REALLY not a fan of cancer.

I’d like to think a bad illness has nothing to do with karma or the surrounding feelings about a particular person. My diagnosis is due to alcohol, not my less-than-stellar moments.

Anyway, I appreciate gimme’s take on this. Health issues tend to make one take stock of their lives, and their character.
my karma statement was in reference to his apparent stance on the connection  or lack there of in his opinion between tobacco and cancer.

    ironic at a minimum

This thread is as fucked up as I expected it to be when I clicked on it.

Never listened to Rush (or to talk radio in general) but he did have a great cameo on Family Guy where he does his own voice that I loved. Brian becomes friends with Rush and becomes a conservative. Or at least conservative-lite. Rush sees right through it. This is probably my favorite exchange in the entire run of Family Guy:

Rush: Face it, Brian. You’re not really a conservative. You’re a liberal. Why try to be something you’re not?

    Brian: But I AM a conservative, Rush! I support the death-penalty don’t I?

Rush: Oh yeah, Brian? Well what about the 4-year-old that was executed in Texas last week?

    Brian: THEY EXECUTED A 4-YEAR-OLD?!?!?!?!?!

Rush: No...but just the fact that you’re concerned proves you’re not one of us.

Well, that was silly on his part.  I'm a smoker, and even I know this.

i am not going to celebrate this. i really hope that he gets good medical care and recovers.

maybe this will give him a chance to reflect on how he has lived his life and how he has demonized the affordable care act. maybe he will come to realize that all of us have a right to top notch health care. this would be a death sentence for someone who is uninsured.

i realize this is most likely a dream on my part, but maybe it will make him a better person.

I like this a lot.  You are a man of good character, gimme.

Agree 100 percent. Can never celebrate someone having cancer no matter how much I disagree with or dislike them.  Let’s all be better to each other

I don't feel bad for him.
I don't care how he goes away - I will just be glad when he's off the airwaves.
Unfortunately, as long as there is profit to be made, someone will fill that void.

I feel bad for Rush and his loved ones.  Its a terrible sentence and even if he survives it is a struggle.

As mentioned, optimally, he makes a full recovery and it changes his heart and he can maybe change his tune on healthcare in the US.

Love him or hate him, Rush Limbaugh is radio legend.  It does take immense talent in his field to fill hours every day without leaning on callers and heavy on pre-taped interviews and such.  He captivates his audience with his words.

So you're saying the best chance for Rush Limbaugh to become a moderately decent person is for him to get cancer? Alright, then; sounds like a win-win.

Another conservative with a horrible cancer diagnosis. Actress Shannon Doherty has a stage 4 cancer (she hasn't publicly specified what type)

Very sad for her family and Limbaugh's family. My mother died of cancer two years ago. She never smoked, and was very, very healthy throughout her entire life until she was diagnosed with bladder cancer at age 67. She fought hard, but fucking SUFFERED in the end prior to finally passing about two years after her diagnosis. Cancer is the absolute worst thing ever.

Well it's worst thing ever to me anyway. But to some of you here, as long as it's happening to conservatives, it's not so bad.

As a Survivor of a hideous cancer, and as a person who has lost close friends and family to cancer, I find some of these replies disgusting.  Those of you unaffected thus far, open your eyes.  Nobody, I mean nobody, should have to contend with it.  Regardless of the life one has led.  I was crazy(not mean though) in my teens, 20s and early 30s.  Diagnosed at age 39.  25% chance of surviving my diagnosis.  Yes, I try to live a better life and be grateful, but life happens everyday.  I am no saint.  Those of you who think he is getting his due should look into your lives...what do you "deserve?  A stubbed toe?  Herpes?  Cancer?  I think not.  Seems some of you caught Assholiosis for you penance for your mis-steps in life.  I am not in line with Rush, his behaviors or views.  Just couldn't believe some of the responses.  27 shows( including one wearing a mask and glove because I was in the middle of treatments) and 28 and 29 on the books.  See you at MSG and Denver.  I'll be the survivor just happy for 1 more day.

Not sure if that was directed at me but first off I am glad you won the battle.

Secondly, I am sure you don't spew hate on the radio everyday for money.  And I'm pretty sure you weren't on the radio making horrible remarks about people with Parkinson's disease.

    8. Limbaugh’s many attacks on Obama.

Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not Black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for Black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush.

So Rush Limbaugh has managed to make racist attacks on four of the most admired and respected people of African descent in the past one hundred years, in Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell and Barack Obama. He has claimed that Joe the Plumber, who isn’t even a plumber is more important in this election than Colin Powell, a decorated military veteran who has served honorably in three administrations. How can the Republican party stand by this man and let their candidates appear on his show? Rush Limbaugh’s comments are so racist, they’re funny, in a Borat, Archie Bunker kind of way. What is not funny is the millions of dittoheads who listen to him, who take in and re-spout all the racist rhetoric that he spits. Limbaugh’s statements are echoed in the racist, angry Palin/McCain supporters who shout ‘kill him,’ ‘terrorist,’ ‘communist,’ ‘traitor,’ ‘socialist’ and ‘off with his head.’

    9. “We need segregated buses… This is Obama’s America.”

    Source

    10. “Obama’s entire economic program is reparations.”

    Source

So everything Obama is doing is a big plot to give money to Black people. Any evidence? Stop the racist fear-mongering.

    THE TWO CONTESTED QUOTES

We ran these two quotes as part of our original list of ten. However, in the fall of 2009, this post surfaced in the debate that followed Limbaugh’s dismissal from an investment group attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams. NewsOne has, as yet, not been able to determine the veracity of these quotes. We note the following for the record:
    • These two quotes were both sourced to a book by Jack Huberman called “101 People Who Are Really Screwing America,” published by Nation Books in 2006. The author of this book, in turn, claims that he procured these quotes from a source which he has refused to reveal “on advice of counsel.”
    • Rush Limbaugh has vigorously denied that he said these things.

In sum, NewsOne can no longer vouch for the accuracy of these quotes. Nor can we trust Limbaugh, who never denied saying the other eight racist quotes on our original list, and whose own track record of duplicity gives us pause.  We keep them in our post for their news value as a controversial, and perhaps dubious attribution. Segregated, of course. Which should make some people very happy.

    1. “I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.”

    Source

    2. “You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.”

    Source

    BONUS QUOTES

“Obama is “more African in his roots than he is American” and is “behaving like an African colonial despot”

    2. “You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.”

    BONUS QUOTES

“Obama is “more African in his roots than he is American” and is “behaving like an African colonial despot”

    Guess who?

Wow. You really, really need to get a life. We get it. Limbaugh is the personification of evil American conservatism. Those quotes you posted of his are racist. But to take the time to type this up and get all those sources? And for what? Because a few people in this thread aren't doing cartwheels over his cancer diagnosis? Ugh. God help you, man.

    2. “Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.”

    3. “Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

Just doing what others are doing, expressing my opinion about what a POS Rushbo is, cancer or not. Cartwheels? You’ve got some whacked fantasies, yo. And after spending 30 years of spewing nothing but hateful rhetoric, it’s not difficult to pull his bile up, copy and paste it to remind people of his shit. Took all of 90 seconds, inter web and all. There is no god.
    Do you really “get it?”
