There are a lot of people who I don’t like or respect in this world but i am hard pressed to find many I wish to die. What he was accused is terrible but he still someone’s father, husband and son and those people are crushed today. For them I couldn’t possibly say good riddance. Hopefully no one ever has the will to say something like that about you or anyone in your familyCM189191 said:

Epstein was a talented hedge fund manager. Weinstein was a talented producer. OJ was a talented football player. Phil Spector was a talented producer. They're still all criminals.
 Good riddance Kobe

Probably the first time in his life that he couldn't cover it up as he was a pro from HS. From there, he did reform. Fixed his family, publicly apologized and did do a lot of charity work. Definitely one of the best ever players but questionable morals for half his life. I feel terrible for his wife and surviving children. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Rapists = bad ?
That the world is a better place with one less rapist in it?
 That point of view?0

That's my view as well. Yes there was that accusation, I don't doubt there was some truth to it. I personally have never been a fan, however; a family has been devastated with tremendous loss. Not only the Bryant family but the families of the others lost in that crash. There's a time and place people. This is certainly not the time.pjhawks said:

Redemption requires an acknowledgement and admission of guilt and honest efforts to make amends to the person harmed. Do people think that adequately happened?my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0

An amazing basketball player for sure, an icon in American sports but maybe a kinda shitty person. He was credibly accused of rape and I can’t imagine that girl has the same glowing feeling about the guy.
No one deserves what happened. The pictures of him and his daughter are heartbreaking and tragic. But it also probably sucks for that girl to hear everyone glowing uncontrollably about the guy.
well put, cliffy. If I had known then what I know now...

oftenreading said:Redemption requires an acknowledgement and admission of guilt and honest efforts to make amends to the person harmed. Do people think that adequately happened?First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colorado. I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter. I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado And look at everything he did for youth and women's sports for past decade... and again, we have three young girls without a father. I think we can dance another day. 0
