    Yea saw lots of reports of that as well until his daughter confirmed he wasn’t on the helicopter. That’s gotta be a brutal situation for a family seeing all the speculation like that.

    Unreal.  It’s unbelievably sad about Kobe but just plain cruel for his daughter to die like that too.

    I will say, while I completely disagree with the way the other poster put it, there is a fine line that espn is completely ignoring, calling him and amazing individual and person. An amazing basketball player for sure, an icon in American sports but maybe a kinda shitty person. He was credibly accused of rape and I can’t imagine that girl has the same glowing feeling about the guy.

    No one deserves what happened. The pictures of him and his daughter are heartbreaking and tragic. But it also probably sucks for that girl to hear everyone glowing uncontrollably about the guy.

    Man that guy was good.  Hated my team losing to him but he always hit the dagger.

    Epstein was a talented hedge fund manager. Weinstein was a talented producer. OJ was a talented football player. Phil Spector was a talented producer. They're still all criminals.

    My thoughts, he made a huge mistake that people in power/ money feel entitled to with no consequences. Probably the first time in his life that he couldn't cover it up as he was a pro from HS. From there, he did reform. Fixed his family, publicly apologized and did do a lot of charity work. Definitely one of the best ever players but questionable morals for half his life. I feel terrible for his wife and surviving children.

    This is so much more nicely put than anything I could say about him.  Living in LA throughout most of his career I had this argument with countless Angelinos.  The majority of people never cared about his victim at any point, they sure as hell won't care about her today.

    The way he championed female sports (especially youth sports) was terrific. He was just on TV raising eyebrows for claiming that three WNBA players could make NBA teams.  That’s huge for their sport.  What he did in his local community as a coach and mentor is flat out awesome. 

    Never liked the Lakers. Always rooted for him to miss.  But im an NBA lifer.   I respect the game.  Top 7 all time man.  Tough as nails. RIP
