They must’ve decided against it for some reason. Kinda odd they’d promote it as such a couple years ago.

    I am certainly not complaining lol

    I don't hate the song, but I don't think there is much there to include on a new album - it is treading the same ground the last 2 albums have and has ben out for a while now so I am glad a new song is taking its place

    I'm fine with that, hopefully they recognize it wasn't that good, and hopefully all 12 of these new ones are better than Can't Deny Me.

    However, they do still owe it to us as a ten club single.

    Also, two years ago it was the ONLY new song, so they probably assumed it was going to be on the album they hadn't recorded yet. 

    Rush did that in 2010 with two new songs, in time for the tour... then they didn't finish recording the rest of the album/releasing it for 2 years in 2012. Those songs were on that album though.

    I love Can't Deny Me. But after this long, it would have felt weird on this album.

    Same goes for Of The Earth. I hope that ends up on a fan club single too, with a studio version so people can shut up about it haha. I mean, I like it too ...but that would feel REALLY weird on a future album.

    No doubt. But why would they pay attention to giving us what they've owed us since 2017? :lol: There's a whole new album now and a tour, and now it'll be too busy to send out fan club singles that they would have done during the last 2-3 years off

    To be fair they both announced it would be a fan club single and the new album.  It sounded like they weren't 100% sure what to do with it at the time.

    I also wonder if at some point they'd had some sessions, recorded some songs, then started over in a different direction.   Could be a lost ep/album out there :)

    I’d put money on a lost album - or handful of songs.   Putting the pieces together, there was an album.  And I recall breading BOB produced can’t deny me.  So this leads me to believe there is more out there

    it was for that upcoming album project

    they shelved/scrapped that project and started a new with a new producer. 

    dont really see whats odd.

    Of the Earth studio might be disappointing. The epic jam makes the song. Feels fresh live. Studio might just fade out.

    I know the song itself was already on a single and there's umpteen different versions and variations...

    ...but that version of Betterman from the final few Letterman shows was fantastic gold.

    CDM is like Betterman held back from VS...it'll be on the forthcoming album after Gigaton. :)

    If my memory is correct CDM was recorded in February 2018.  It was released the very next month and I believe one of the band members said in an interview that they had finished 5 or 6 songs from that session.  Obviously done with Brendon O' Brien.  I think they started over with josh Evans with recording sessions in april and august last year.  So there maybe enough for an EP from that BOB session.  Hopefully when the guys do interviews somebody asks them all about CDM and that first recording session!

    I’m pretty sure Can’t Deny Me was from an Anti-Trump collection of songs that was being worked on a couple of years ago. For whatever reason it was shelved in favor of Gigaton. I guess we will see post Nov 3 if they resurface or possibly Ed saves them for a solo tour/record.
