I'm kinda surprised and disappointed by that. Having GOPexiter may have bumped the credibility with the center a bit.mickeyrat said:7 managers named. As someone who has followed and supported Amash vigorously for a few years, this is not the case at all. You can disagree with his positions, but what you see is what you get. He was calling for impeachment based on the Mueller report, which was way ahead of many Democrats.Halifax2TheMax said:

            "THE FIELD"
That's where I'm at. I think he recognizes the bigger-than-issues implications of what's going on here and he'd put the Republic over the party that he left. Hell, I think it would be great if he threw in a "socialism sucks...but fascism is worse" or something; let people know that it's not just a bunch of crazy liberals. Nancy, more often than not, has been on the ball (even when we thought she wasn't)...but I wonder whether this is a missed opportunity.pjl44 said:

Isn't a lone wolf now, voting with whom he agrees? I don't think that distinction is important like it is in the Senate, as the HOR is generally not so close in numbers like the Senate.Halifax2TheMax said:

Edit - he has no committee seats this congress, which makes sense because neither leader would put him there. No upside politically to handing one of your chair seats to someone who is a wild card.Post edited by mrussel1 on0

I'm not sure but I wouldn't trust a former repub on something as important as this. It'd be a slap in the face to any capable/qualified dem. Its not about optics, its about putting forth the best possible team from your party's bench. I can see the spin now, "dems don't have enough ability, they had to appoint a former repub............"mrussel1 said:

I think this is leaning so hard into politics-as-sport that you've created more of a palace intrigue fan fiction than anything resembling reality. Getting the votes to remove him from office was going to be an uphill battle to begin with. If they didn't even make an attempt to give it some element of a transpartisan body AND selected a guy like Schiff as the lead (who isn't respected outside of entrenched Democrat circles), well good luck.Halifax2TheMax said:

"Indies" are partly responsible for why we're where we are today.
I get frustrated about this because I want to see the dude gone. My hopes are now resting on potential Bolton testimony and/or this Parnas evidence to take root. Because short of that, Democrats keep torpedoing how this can be framed if he gets acquitted.0

It can't be "framed" without witness testimony or documentary evidence, all of which has been denied by Team Trump Treason. The palace intrigue you speak of is that shit that's coming out in dribs and drabs, despite Team Trump Treason and repub denials to the contrary. Yea, its sport as its the third impeachment in my life time (Nixon, I know he resigned before he could be impeached and only after the evidence was such that he would have been, Clinton and now Team Trump Treason) and I've listened and watched ad nauseum how evil Hillary is/was for close to 30 years. And what did we have? Fucking nothing. Nancy is either going to get a "mountain of evidence" or illustrate for the American people that the phone call was not "perfect" and the repubs are participating in a cover up, based on facts. Fan fiction indeed.pjl44 said:
I think this is leaning so hard into politics-as-sport that you've created more of a palace intrigue fan fiction than anything resembling reality. Getting the votes to remove him from office was going to be an uphill battle to begin with. If they didn't even make an attempt to give it some element of a transpartisan body AND selected a guy like Schiff as the lead (who isn't respected outside of entrenched Democrat circles), well good luck.Halifax2TheMax said:

If Team Trump Treason is acquitted on party lines and re-elected, based on the facts, if they ever come out, then the US is no better than any other tin pot dictatorship and the rule of law does not extend to the POTUS. Careful what you (general you, not you personally) wish for because someday it'll be the other party in power and the precedent will have been set, obstruction of justice and checks and balances via Executive Privilege and litigation.
And Bolton? Like Larry Bird, he ain't walking through that door.Post edited by Halifax2TheMax on09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. Entrenched democrat circles? Nonsense. Schiff has been a bright light in the democratic party. Unless of course you buy into all the Republican shifty Schiff nonsense.pjl44 said:

The GOP has been smearing him for a reason, he's extremely effective and competent. They fear him.0
