    WOOT!

Best news I've heard all day!

Been a fan of them for about 10 years now and seen them live a bunch of times before.

Their new record is excellent and is my favourite album thus far this year.

Just hope I can get in intime to see them.....awesome.....it's going to be legendary :D
Hear hear. Totally agree. They had lost their way a little over last album BUT their new album is fantastic. Just saw them a few weeks ago in Aberdeen ... they played a long set as it was being filmed for a live DVD, cracking set, a band re-inspired. A welcome addition ... for me anyway.

is it me or do they sound a lot like R>E.M. I reckon they will set a good mood for pearl jam why not.

    They're definitely heavily influenced by the 80s R.E.M. stuff.....and thats a good thing :)

They're also heavily influenced by a lot of folk stuff and Sonic Youth.

  • How about this? Rather than an opening band - since clearly everybody there, particularily on that night (damn you lucky bastards!), are gonna be going absolutely mad for PJ - instead of an opener, just have Karl Pilkington on stage for a half hour, discussing his various theories and/or scientific factoids and such.

    Gold I tell ya.

I'm sure that would be interesting....but I'd still rather have Idlewild if it's all the same :)

I concur. Love Idlewild. Their new album is great. :)

Which of the new songs are you going to play?

The new album opener 'In Competition for the Worst Time" is a great track :)

After seeing Idlewild in March i'd have to say that 'Ghost In The Arcade' is the best song LIVE chosen from their new album.

Yeah, I can imagine that one working very well live. I also really like If It's Takes You Home and Once In Your Life off the new record.

    great news!!!!

Idlewild are great and back to their rockin best. Saw them support PJ in Irvine and San Diego 03.

And to whoever mentioned that they didn't enjoy the support slot, that's a load of bollocks as I spoke to Roddy (singer) and Colin (drummer) about supporting PJ and they absolutely loved the experience. Allan (guitarist) is an old school grunge head as well.

    Looking forward to it...
