    The Whac-a-Mole POTUS!

"George W Bush and Barack Obama both rejected the move as too destabilising for the region. Based on his temperament, his past behaviour (including on Ukraine, the basis for the current impeachment proceedings against him) and his volatile tweeting, there is plenty of reason to believe that Trump has not thought about what follows the immediate sugar rush."

“Less clear is the long term because there are so many uncertainties. He’s unleashed something he’s not able to control. This is the problem with a president who plays Whac-A-Mole rather than chess. I don’t think he’s thought through the long-term implications of this.”

Maybe discuss the topic instead of name calling, being condescending and leaching onto wild theories with little fact or research ... perhaps we may learn something from each other.

One thing I find tough is watching / reading the news when every cable tv station I browsed today just had pundits screaming at each other ... much like AMT most of the time.

So, the only thing for certain is that Solomondie the general (i'm not google searching how to spell his name each time) would still be alive today if he was not in a foreign country after an attack on the US embassy.  Which begs the question, why was the general, who had been on the designated terror list for two presidential administrations, within miles of the the US embassy attack?  I'm ruling out that he was on holiday.

It also seems reckless that a cunning battlefield leader would expose himself as he did ... he has been fighting wars as long as I have walked this planet.  Was he over confident?  Did he assume that since he hadn’t been targeted in the past that he felt he was off limits?  Or was he ordered there by someone who outranked him?  If so, why would Iran expose a well known leader?

lol you just posted an article about her but you don’t keep up with Hollywood types , how many more American soldiers are you ok with coming home in body bags from this point forward? You don’t offer your hand to your enemies while pointing a gun at them! I agree the terrorist deserves what he got no doubt about it...

What is it going to take for the Middle East to come out of the dark ages?  My guesses are Education, women’s rights, end Israel’s occupation of Palestinian areas and ending Iran’s influence in so many countries and conflicts.  What is done is done and all I can do is hope at some point this will all work out.

Good questions.  It was very reckless.

Better education and improved women's rights are needed nearly universally.  Yes, the Israeli/ Palestinian situation is an on going mess.

But "what's done is done" implies, "Oh well, let's forget that and move on."  But the fact is, that what's been done has created widespread concern for "heightened tensions in the middle east" (AKA another war), a more dangerous world, great risk of retaliation from the middle east, and the biggest gamble Trump has ever taken in his presidency.  It could backfire on him big time.  Not that I would mind that, but I do mind that this makes the world more unstable than ever.  This is more than a "what's done is done" situation.  Far more.

Why are people freaking out that this could lead to world war 3? Like I said, I don’t see this as a franz Ferdinand replay.

I don’t either.  I don’t know what their end game is.  Iran can’t beat the US in a war so they aren’t going to go to full on war mode in the region.  Starting a war isn’t going to get rid of economic sanctions.  Gotta see what Russia would do.   The more real concern is targeted attacks a few times a year.  Trump will bomb them if they start up the nuclear program again.

As crazy as Trump is, I think Iran has to be a little nervous that Trump isn’t going to take their shit if they try to retaliate.
