I agree with you. Any situation where a politician is compelled to enrich themselves over enriching the nation or acting in ways aligned with the moral principles of the nation is one that shouldn't be involved in politics. This risk exists in lobbying, and in illegally withholding congressionally appropriated funds from foreign governments. Ultimately though, it's the politician accepting the lobbyist dollars who should be held accountable in their respective house.
