i wasn't there, but it sounds like the typical david cross set. a couple long stories that never pan out, and a few bits that are absolutely hilarious. actually, mr. show was kind of the same way - some of the sketches just didn't work for me - but i still consider that show genius because there were so many laugh-until-it-hurts moments.

i feel like i missed the boat on the dane cook craze. i'm sure if i was 15 years old instead of 23 i'd think he was hilarious.

Yeah I agree with what you are saying. Mr. Show had some dumb sketches but I think he worked with John Ennis, Bob Odenkirk, Jay Johnston, and other writers on it and they'd choose together what sketch to go with.

I'm 23 as well and think I'd laugh more at Cook if I were 13. I don't get the hype. I thought the "itchy asshole" routine was great until I heard he ripped it off.

I must be as well, then...

count me in aswell.. although i think david cross is in a whole other league.. Dane Cook can work a crowd well.. he just doesn't have a whole lot to say like say a Bill Hicks (my personal hero) or even David Cross would..

But I think for a mass audience much of whom is there to see Pearl Jam and probably don't know the comic.. Dane Cook would have worked better.

  • People will probably jump down my back for this, but I thought David Cross was horrible. Not one laugh during his entire set. (And no, it's not because I'm a fan of Dane Cook, big or otherwise.)
