    Agreed. Be willing to listen or just sit with them in silence, if that is what they need. Not knowing any of the particulars of the situation, I will guess that they are looking for support, not answers. And when the situation allows, make them laugh. That tends to break up the intensity of the moment.

    Unsolicited advice: I don't know what is causing the dead inside feeling (burn out?), but it is important to take care of yourself. As overused as the expression is, it is true: you can't pour from an empty cup. If you want/need to chat or vent, feel free to PM me.
