Neil Young & Pearl Jam: Mirror Ball Live release date set for October 29th

Mirror Ball Live – the documentary directed by Jim Sheridan about the 1995 Neil Young tour featuring Pearl Jam – will be available Tues, October 29th on Neil Young Archives.

Hearse Theater, the online Neil Young archives, will publish a documentary about a concert Neil Young played with Pearl Jam at the RDS Simmonscourt Pavillion in Dublin on August 26th 1995.

The concert from the 1995 Mirror Ball Tour, fell into oblivion for more than 20 years following the will of both record companies representing the artists included in the project.

Reprise Records that still releases Neil Young albums and Epic Records, Sony’s subsidiary that published Pearl Jam albums until 2003, never made arrangements and practically prohibited this release for more than 20 years. The legend tells that Eddie Vedder got very mad about it (even if he wasn’t involved in the 1995 european promotional Mirror Ball Tour).

I've never heard it was shut down. Neil's been talking about it for awhile but releases things when he wants them out. Reprise wouldn't tell Neil he can't release something

As for Give Way, wasn't that just Best Buy basically releasing it without the band's consent?

Give way was shut down by Sony too as was seen in the Cease and desist letter.  Record companies stopped the releases so I'm wondering if there were any others that might have got shut down and hidden?  There could be some gems out there still?

It says never came to an agreement. I'm not a lawyer but if its marketed as a Neil young concert what say does Sony have? That was how the album release was handled.

Well when your big earner isn't making music for you and out doing it for someone else they might of had a problem w that considering PJ was under contract.

Wondering if the album linear notes say "Stone Gossard appears courtesy of Epic records"?  I don't own it or I'd check.

They do say that but I think a video would simply say the same thing. They aren't using the name "pearl jam," although maybe they can now since epic deal us over

As for Give Way, wasn't that just Best Buy basically releasing it without the band's consent?
Reprise Records and Epic Records never made arrangements and prohibited this release for more than 20 years as PJ & NY.
Yes, I read that. Perhaps it is lost in translation but it was never "prohibited" from being released

Shocked he hasn't done one yet, as he lives in California.

That's disappointing it only airs once.  I hope someone is able to capture it for posterity.
There's a pretty good chance it will be aired again. The Hearse Theater shows one video for 24 hours, as per the schedule, but there have been repeat screenings of some of them. Le Noise Sessions, Silver & Gold Live and others have been shown more than once.

Also, not sure if it's been mentioned before, but you need to be a paying member of NYA in order to see the movies in the Hearse Theater.

Yep, it's $1.99 a month or $19.99 a year membership but you can cancel anytime.

Would be great if Neil officially releases it on Blu-ray.

I’ve been a subscriber since the first day it launched and it is easily the best $19.99 I’ve ever spent. So much content, hi-res audio of almost Neil’s entire catalogue, live concert streams, exclusive access to tickets etc. The Hearse Theater screenings are an amazing bonus, and the Mirror Ball film will definitely be one to watch

Great there do repeats and that the show is available to view all day. Can't wait to see it on October 29th. :)
