Would that be the same Russia who stands to benefit from Trump pulling US troops out of Syria?

Facebook is accepting money to spread political propaganda they know is false, propaganda which if effective will benefit Facebook in the long term, and there's a question as to whether or not they are wrong to do so?
Really?
should they take down ads by (insert sugar cereal here) claiming to be "part of your complete breakfast"?
ultimately the responsibility lies with the consumer/voter to decide. as unfortunate as it is. false/misleading political attack ads have been running on tv for decades. but now that's it the "cesspool" of social media, now everyone cares? what's the difference?Well, for starters, social media's reach and influence is greater than anything we've ever seen before (it's unprecedented), and the lies are only getting bolder & bigger, so there's two significant differences.
Furthermore, do you really not see the difference between CNN running an ad that might call Frosted Flakes "a part of your complete breakfast" and Facebook running an ad claiming Biden withheld $1B from the Ukraine?
TV had an exponentially larger reach 15 years ago.
so it's only a bad thing now because of social media's reach? shouldn't it have been a problem before, regardless? and also, isn't social media a young person's (mostly) folly? you know, the ones that don't vote?
I think people are attempting to move the goal posts because it's trump. because we are in semi-uncharted territory here, where we have the US president ready and willing to tell not just exaggerations, or partial truths, but obvious lies.
my point is where is the line drawn? is it only drawn for trump and the GOP? or do we outlaw all political ads altogether, because by and large, they are ALL utter bullshit, whether by telling lies or lying by omission of truth.given the information thats come out over the years about facebook and its practices, yeah they should pull it.from the manipulation in algorithms, to the experiments, the lax nature of the company in regards to private info they have access to. to the shitshow they allowed in 2016.all followed by false and hollow apologies by fuckerberg to change and do better._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

i don't know how much responsibility/clout i want to give a place like facebook to be in charge of keeping our elections safe. the onus is on the voter.
sometimes i do think there should be a law against political ads altogether. it's no different than libel, to me. you say something about a person, and it's out there. it doesn't matter how untrue it is, there is often no getting in front of it. political ads are no different. the energy and money you spend to defend yourself and it's almost always too late.
most politicians don't outwardly make shit up. trump is changing the game. and he gives no shits about it because to him a win is the most important thing. neither does his party. they are fucking loving it; the constant winning. they go low we go high didn't work. and it won't. but what do you do? do you get dirty with the pigs? then we're all fucking pigs.
i think you make election campaigns donor-free and ad-free. you have platforms and debates. nothing else. but who the fuck is going to put that forth, essentially making illegal the thing that put them into office?By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0 -
with what trump just did in syria is just....unfathomable. to say it's treasonous is not hyperbole. he needs to be removed and tossed in prison. he is a sack of shit and requires removal. pence is another POS who will defend trump as long as he deems it politically expedient. what a piece of garbage they both are.By The Time They Figure Out What Went Wrong, We'll Be Sitting On A Beach, Earning Twenty Percent.0

So surprising...
The two men, who helped Giuliani investigate former vice president Joe Biden, were charged with campaign finance violations, according to a person familiar with the charges.
Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman have been under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
