    I honestly can't believe he lived as long as he did. He was one of a kind!

    I saw eV in Chicago 2008 and he played walking the cow it moved me so much,i thought is this. A new song then i found out it was written by Daniel Johnston. IThanks for the music ,Rip

    Well said. I hope that wherever he is now, that longing has been fulfilled. Still, while it’s easy to think of his story as a tragic one, he struck me as a gentle, kind soul. And he spread more joy than most could in many lifetimes. As an artist, I think everyone could learn something from him. He loved music, and even though he wasn’t a great singer, guitarist or piano player, he gave everything that he possibly could to his songs. He was honest, genuine, and so original... all of which makes his music so very refreshing. Rest In Peace, Daniel. Thank you.

    I met him in a comic book shop in LA. He was flirting with my wife and he asked to take a picture with her:) I’ll never forget the look in his eye when he saw this comic book behind glass that interested him. He beelined to that case so fast and he was so happy when he got it. :)

    Just in the mood for his music lately. It’s a comfort right now. Sometimes I listen and think that Daniel was only one degree of separation from Neil Young. Were it not for his illness, his career might have looked a lot like Uncle Neil’s. Still, thankful that he left so much music behind that has and will continue to inspire artists for generations to come.

    Built to Spill is releasing a covers album of Daniel Johnston. It’s running a bit late due to Covid-19, but is out in June I think. Already preordered!
