This may be the worst widely-beloved film ever made.
An 80's cliché machine with shit acting and pseudo-patriotism that perfectly captures the contemporary decade with the worst style in all ways.
You must be fun at parties.  Lol.  Original Top Gun is amazing!!!!  Top gun 2 looks pretty good so far.  I can’t wait to see this one in the theatre.

This is a movie I watch anytime it is on, no matter where it’s at in the movie. Must have seen it 100+ times 😂

Ever notice that only people who were 10-25 in the 80s actually like stuff from the 80s?
Every other decade inspires people young and old, but not the 80s lol

A kid born in 2000 finds Zeppelin or grunge and identifies and zeros in and bonds...when those eras happened they were embraced by the hip older folks...

Nobody born after 1985 ever found the Beastie Boys or Top Gun and thought, "wow this really holds up well" lol

I get that people love it, I myself prefer parodies of it, like Hot Shots (and part deux of course) and the Always Sunny Lethal Weapon sequels.

I watched the original about a month ago and still found it highly entertaining. This has some good nostalgia and interesting enough premise that has me excited for it. Call the original cheesy all you want, but that was kind of part of the appeal. The 80's meant you didn't need to take things so seriously all the time and Top Gun was good at that. Maybe Meg Ryan will come out of hiding and connect with Maverick to provide some guidance after that funeral scene.
    It's a hopeless situation...

people born after 1985 made DJ’s that run a concert with a MacBook the highest paid entertainers so I won’t use them as a judge of what is good entertainment

The original movie has so many flaws/just outright dumb parts.  However....I loved it, was my favorite movie as a kid, and there is no way I can imagine not giving this follow up a try.

That being said, I still have yet to watch Anchorman II.  Don't think I can ever bring myself to it.

I love the Legend of Ron Burgundy, and I don't think I made it a full half hour into the sequel before turning it off. It was atrocious.

Yeah, I heard that from a few people I know and decided I could not do that to Ron.

I grew up on Air Force bases in the '80s. For us brats, Top Gun was unparalleled.

    Fighter jets are cool.
The original Top Gun is in fact kinda dumb and deeply flawed in a number of ways, BUT...it's still one of my favorite movies ever.
If its on some random channel, I'm watching it.  Even if there's only 10 minutes left, I'm watching it.
That, and fighter jets are fn cool!  Did I mention that?

Top Gun is cheesy goodness and young hot Val Kilmer can't ask for much more.

    Never cared for Top Gun.

But watched it with my mom not long ago when it was on the TV. She knew all the scenes by heart.

DId you know this ad for the greatest car in the world SAAB is what made them think of Tony Scott as director?

So thank SAAB the next time you watch Top Gun.
