YES. Carl still tours with him, too. That was a surprise last summer. Ray is super generous and lets him rip some crazy solos.derbydave said:
I saw the "Jacket Boys" on tour with Ray LaMontagne on his Ouroboros tour a few years & it was an INCREDIBLE show!!pjl44 said:
I can't find the article, but read something recently about them firing the engine back up again. Recording and such. Hope they come roaring back after this hiatus.Spiritual_Chaos said:It almost feels like MMJ is a dead band, I'm not really thinking about them anymore... they had that Waterfalls album and I guess they do shows in the US sometimes... but they haven't been here, what I know, since what... 2011/2012?
I will say that they are quite a unit even without Jim. That Strand of Oaks record is phenomenal.
Can't remember for sure, but I think Jim produced that album for Ray too!!
I've seen Carl's solo 3 times as well & he puts on a great show!
Tim of Strand of Oaks has been hinting at some possible shows with them backing him. That would be the shit.
And those Carl/Steelism shows knocked me out. I could go on and on. Put any of those dudes on a stage and I'm there.0 -
That sounds awesome. I’ll definitely report back.derbydave said:
That is a GREAT duo...ComeToTX said:Seeing Carl and Tyler Ramsey in a few weeks (a week before RR). Never seen him solo so I’m excited.
saw them together here in Columbus back in February!
They are both on stage together for almost the entire show...
Carl & Tyler each do one song on their own,
Carl did a phenomenal version of Radiohead's Pyramid Song & Tyler did his 1000 Black Birds solo!
Let me know what you think after the show!!

Perfect venue for them too. This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0 -
Any Big Little Lies fans here?
“Sunday night’s episode closed with a show-commissioned cover of Timmy Thomas’ “Why Can’t We Live Together” by My Morning Jacket’s Jim James; the original was used in Season 1.”

This event looks like a GREAT time...

I love Jim but I’m not sure I’d pay $1,000 to have him in my living room. This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0

As I posted above we had the pleasure of seeing Jim James last month in Vancouver. I've not seen MMJ as yet but I have The Waterfall and It Still Moves CD's. I'm wondering if anybody could suggest some live material or other favorite songs/albums that would be checking out. Do they do many cover songs?0

My personal favorites:
2015 Red Rocks show
the 3 / 2012 - Port Chester shows
the 2 / 2012 - Red Rocks shows
the 2005 Philadelphia show.
If you want to hear all of their studio albums live...
you should pick up the bootlegs from One Big Holiday in 2018.
They played ALL of their albums in order over the 3 nights!!
MMJ does AMAZING covers...
Tyrone, Rocketman, Rock The Casbah & All Night Long are really fun!!'96: Seattle: Key Arena
