    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2019/06/bidens-anachronistic-comments-race-and-civil-rights/592252/

The thread is there in his first big interview before his inaugural Senate run: “I have some friends on the far left, and they can justify to me the murder of a white deaf mute for a nickel by five colored guys. They say the black men had been oppressed and so on. But they can’t justify some Alabama farmers tar and feathering an old colored woman,” Biden said in November 1970, just as he was coming onto the political scene. He had just won his first election to the New Castle County Council, and he was featured in a major profile in the Wilmington, Delaware, News Journal with a splashy headline: “Joe Biden: Hope for Democratic Party in ’72?”

“I suspect the ACLU would leap to defend the five black guys,” Biden continued in the interview. “But no one would go down to help the ‘rednecks.’ They are both products of an environment. The truth is somewhere between the two poles. And rednecks are usually people with very real concerns, people who lack the education and skills to express themselves quietly and articulately.”

That was the thinking Biden seemed to be reflecting on Tuesday night at a New York City fundraiser when he recalled working with two of the most famous segregationists in the Senate. Pushing back on Democrats who’ve called for a take-no-prisoners approach to dealing with congressional Republicans, he noted that Senator James Eastland of Mississippi “never called me ‘boy’—he always called me ‘son.’

Why not? Shouldn't we have minimum requirements to run for president? Most important jobs have minimum requirements.

He lost twice for Senate. Trump would eat him for lunch with a record like that to defend.

Dems are showing why trump won last time.  It's not only that Hillary was a horrific campaigner. Its also...

The Democrats are terrible at politics.

    Bernie criticizes US imperialism.

"He was just doing a limited strike..." <-- what kind of a question by a journalist is that? Wouldn't the question be "The administration is claiming that it was just a limited strike?" guessing it's implied by what has been asked before in the interview that she is putting forth Trumps perspective. But still...

JOE BIDEN SAYS HE CAN WORK WITH THE SENATE. THE LAST TIME HE TRIED, MITCH MCCONNELL PICKED HIS POCKETS BADLY.

    https://theintercept.com/2019/06/24/joe-biden-tax-cuts-mitch-mconnell/

The deal was awful, they told Reid, and it had to be stopped. Reid told them what had happened, that it was out of his hands and that McConnell had gone around him to Biden. He said he was working on improving it and would be in touch throughout the day.

None of the senators had any business scheduled — it was New Year’s Eve, after all — so Sanders invited them back to his office in the Dirksen building. The Hart building has a popcorn machine, so Harkin asked his staff to bring some by. The crew ended up spending several hours together in Sanders’s office, thinking through potential strategies of opposition and waiting to hear from Reid.

Instead, one senator’s phone rang, and it was Joe Biden, calling to sell the deal he had cut. In classic Biden fashion, he offered a 10- to 15-minute soliloquy, a meandering argument that largely boiled down to: You can trust me; I’m your friend; this is a good deal. The senator could barely get a word in before the conversation ended.

Debates are tomorrow and Thursday - should we discuss here, if one wants to, or start a thread for the debates.

    AMT what do you think?

And I personally am not giving any attention to the Trump 'live tweeting' of the debates. Not only should he be presidenting, but I think he receives too much free air time and only wants to be the headline instead of the Democrats. That is just my decision.

This is the informed opinion, imo.  People are so fucking lame and just keep lapping it up.
Bill O'Spin-fuck, for that matter, is the same type of tool...he just is without a more important job.

Guess the debates is early morning here. So If I find somewhere to stream I might squeeze it in after Dee Snider and before work.
