The chorus in Bushleaguer is sadly wasted

Blackout weaves its way through the city
Blackout weaves its way through the city
Blackout weaves its way...
I remember when you sang that song about today
Now it's tomorrow and everything has changed
Just sad they didn't update the lyrics to work with "any" shitty President, or keep playing it for the general message of it.
Just a bid sad.

Just a bid sad."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
To this day when I hear that chorus I imagine the blackouts in California :
- California electricity crisis, blackouts affecting California in 2000 and 2001, due to an energy shortage caused by market manipulation
or the blackouts in Baghdad during the invasion.Detroit 2000, Detroit 2003 1-2, Grand Rapids VFC 2004, Philly 2005, Grand Rapids 2006, Detroit 2006, Cleveland 2006, Lollapalooza 2007, Detroit Eddie Solo 2011, Detroit 2014, Chicago 2016 1-2, Chicago 2018 1-2, Ohana Encore 2021 1-2, Chicago Eddie/Earthlings 2022 1-2, Nashville 2022, St. Louis 2022

I think I remember reading somewhere that Stone said Ed had a fantastic vocal melody for this song that was recorded but scrapped because Ed wanted the spoken word more. Would love to hear this.

Always loved Bu$hleaguer, especially the music and chorus. Good song that doesn't need to be shelved. You can attach any last name and reference some prick screwing over people. It's like a more direct follow-up to Soon Forget. It's a hopeless situation...0

So, who here has gotten to see Bushleager live? Anything particularly interesting happen?
I was able to see it once in 2003 at night one in Detroit. Eddie made a comment about it not being a “rebel song” at the beginning.Detroit 2000, Detroit 2003 1-2, Grand Rapids VFC 2004, Philly 2005, Grand Rapids 2006, Detroit 2006, Cleveland 2006, Lollapalooza 2007, Detroit Eddie Solo 2011, Detroit 2014, Chicago 2016 1-2, Chicago 2018 1-2, Ohana Encore 2021 1-2, Chicago Eddie/Earthlings 2022 1-2, Nashville 2022, St. Louis 2022

It was interesting in Uniondale in 03 thats for sure. I walked out of that show with goosebumps, looking over each shoulder every other second. A one of a kind feeling...not sure if its a good one tho.0

Bad song. Just so heavy handed. I do kinda dig the second, sorta atmospheric guitar and the acoustic break between verses.0

Both the "Blackout weaves..." and "I remember when you sang..." parts are solid hooks and I find myself liking it more as time goes on...but, yeah, the song is obviously a thing of the past now, as it's not timely.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

What if it was sang in the past tense? He wasn’t a leader he was a Texas leaguer, ect.
While I agree in some way it is in the past, many people are still dealing with the horrible consequences from his horrible presidency.Detroit 2000, Detroit 2003 1-2, Grand Rapids VFC 2004, Philly 2005, Grand Rapids 2006, Detroit 2006, Cleveland 2006, Lollapalooza 2007, Detroit Eddie Solo 2011, Detroit 2014, Chicago 2016 1-2, Chicago 2018 1-2, Ohana Encore 2021 1-2, Chicago Eddie/Earthlings 2022 1-2, Nashville 2022, St. Louis 2022

Saw it at Uniondale and man did it create some tension! I like the chorus but the spoken word fell flat on me. The song seems pretty irrelevant now so I m not sure why they would play it live. I guess if he switched the words up but otherwise let it sit on the shelve. There are Plenty of others that need to be played more.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

”the haves have not a fucking clue, but they got their tax cut” June 25 2003.
I like that little change in the lyrics, lol.

🤔
Born on third, complained it wasn’t a homer.
Born on 2nd, stole 3rd.
Born on 2nd, stole the catchers sign.
Called out on strikes, appealed to ump, ump gave him first.
lol, I tried.
