MSG Night 2 2003 - Live on 4 Legs

Hello all, next show LO4L is covering for an episode will be Night 2 at the Garden in 2003. Usually overshadowed by night 1, a lot of people have stated claim that night 2 was better than the show that made it to DVD. If that's something you agree with, we'd love to hear from you. If you have any good stories, memories, favorite moments from this show or reasons why you think it's better than night 1, feel free to chime in. Either write to us at liveon4legspodcast@gmail.com or comment down below to relive the show.
Hi, I host a Pearl Jam Podcast. We go back to some of the classic shows in their history and break down the entire setlist front to back. From historic perspective, to performances, to setlist construction, to fan stories. We do our best to capture the magic that is their live act and help you relive those memories, or if you weren't there, maybe turn you on to a show you've never heard before.

Live On 4 Legs can be found on Apple Podcast, Spotify and any other major podcast platform. But please support our website and check out the episodes archived there. Oh, and the Concertpedia as well (for you Five Horizons and Two Feet Thick fans, we've picked up where they've left off)

A great show but it will, and rightly so, always live in the shadow of the night before IMHO.

I scalped tickets to the show a few hours before for $120. This was at a time where the face value was $43.

Crazy Mary opener was cool and unexpected. Great ending by Boom and Mike.
Awesome run of songs to start the first set and keep the energy up.
Eddie called Johnny Ramone for I Believe in Miracles from a flip phone.
A pretty good version of Deep which was very rare in 2003.
Present Tense -Nothingman - SOLAT - Porch was the best run of the night. This version of Porch was the closest the energy got to the previous night.

The Play Leash You Pussies exchange was funny, and I thought they were going to try it.
The encores were a bit disappointing besides Alive which was awesome. The entire MSG crowd chanting YEA was a memory I'll never forget.
To me, playing DTE again seemed 'wrong' as there was no shot it would ever come close to the previous night.

GREAT first set but I felt like the band was a bit lost or out of gas during the encores. Overall, the best back to back nights of music ever!

On paper I like N2 better, but the band was ON in N1. Both shows are great and it’s truly one of the high points of the band’s best touring year

I do think on paper night 2 might look better, but it wasn't.  Night 1 has these legendary moments.....Ben Harper on the Daughter tag, Crown of Thorns (4th time being played), stage bouncing during DTE, or the insane 2nd encore (Crazy Mary, Indifference, Sonic Reducer, Baba, and Ledbetter) night 1 just had "it".  There's a good reason they chose to release it.

However, night 2 was sneaky real good.  Ed commenting how there were 8000 fanclub members in attendance and telling the story of how fans have met and become close friends/gotten married, the "play Leash you pussies" sign.....and a great mix of songs.  Red Mosquito, Present Tense, Nothingman, All or None, and others.  A tremendous show, but they had a lot of work to do after night 1.

I remember leaving and hearing some guy complain at the amount of repeats they had played from night 1.  Friggen Pearl Jam fans, man.  You can't win, lol.

I really should've said listen to the episode and you'll have your answer. But yeah, that obviously gets talked about.

It almost felt like a celebration of the previous night. Wow night 1 was epic, let's have fun tonight. 2 best nights I've ever seen together..Boston night 1 & 2 that year were pretty tasty though.
