I believe in giving as little ammunition to your opponents as possible (especially the way even the most innocuous of situations are now weaponized), but I hope you're correct here.Halifax2TheMax said:
I disagree. Leaks are part of the game, particularly after the conclusion of the investigation. Team Mueller ran a very tight ship with no leaks or comments, other than to counter the false Buzzfeed report, during the investigation. Leaks now are indicative of members of Team Mueller being frustrated by a one sided narrative being spun by CYA Barr, who lobbied for the job to protect the president and is attempting to cover up the contents of the Team Mueller Report. You (general sense) don’t want leaks? Release the full report to Congress. The behavior begs the question, what are they hiding? Particularly since the report “fully exonerated” Team Trump Treason.benjs said:
If true (about the leaking), I find that incredibly dumb behaviour. The reason Mueller insisted on this secrecy all along the way was likely to avoid this falling into the court of public opinion for a complex situation in an era where people cling to the easiest (and most aligned with their own opinion) soundbite to swallow. To jeopardize this in the eleventh hour and give a possible argument of "this was coloured by public opinion" (which, if true, I think will happen based on past events), just seems counter-productive. I hope the truth comes out (what ever it may be), and I hope it does with proper protocol.Halifax2TheMax said:Hey guess what? Team Mueller investigators are leaking summaries of their investigation(s) to the press and the early reporting is that the Team Mueller report is worse than CYA Barr is letting on. I'm all for leaking if it were certain this wasn't going anywhere, but I don't think the options to release this legally have been exhaustive; they've only just placed the subpoena for the full release, after all.

All I'm saying is that the deadline has passed for Barr to release the entire report to Congress, and Congress now has legal right (which the House panel said they will pursue) to subpoena for the entirety of the report. That's regardless of who's in charge. Should that attempt be derailed by claims of executive privilege etc., then go for the leaks, because the attempts to get this out will have visibly failed. Until then, I think this'll be presented as a trust-eroding action by Republicans.josevolution said:

Nadler is giving CYA Barr ample opportunity to come clean and release the Team Mueller report, in its entirety, to Congress. Instead, he’s doing what he was hired to do, cover it up. The vote to issue subpoenas didn’t have a deadline attached to it regarding when they would be issued. Nadler’s deadline was his April 2nd of CYA Barr handing the report over, which was ample time given the length, resources available for review and Team Trump Treason’s full exoneration. When Nadler’s patience wears thin, he’ll issue subpoenas but it seems those in the know are already frustrated, concerned and acting accordingly. You (general sense) don’t want leaks? Demand that the Team Mueller Report be released in its entirety.Lerxst1992 said:.benjs said:

Got to love the cover up.
A Justice Department spokeswoman said "every page" of Mueller's nearly 400-page report provided to Barr on March 22 was flagged as potentially containing material covered under a law that protects confidential grand jury information and "therefore could not be publicly released."

“We see how that turned out.” What do you mean by that? There clearly was evidence of collusion just not enough to prosecute. Now the Mueller team is saying it’s worse than the AG characterized it. I think they are well within their right to say this since it appears as if the AG is acting in bad faith.tempo_n_groove said:
"Leaks" are what lead to the collusion thoughts in the first place, which you mention and we see how that turned out...Halifax2TheMax said:
Who would have thunk? 28-9.

Yes give us the whole report. But...since the Mueller team themselves wrote a summary, why didn’t the AG just release that instead of putting his own spin on it? Something is afoot....www.myspace.com0 -
