    (I’m sorry if I stepped away from the subject.)

    At least I’m very happy for all the vaccines I’ve got, never had any side affects either. 
    It’s important that the vaccines are well proven though. 
    It feels good to be protected against measles, tetanus, hepatitis A,B, rubella, TBE etc.

    I agree with liberty as much as anyone in TX, but I do not believe in neglecting children...which is what not vaccinating is in my opinion. 
    Funny thing is, I bet any of these people would use antibiotics for every little sore throat, when there has actually been long term studies and scientific evidence that they can lead to future mental health problems and other ailments.

    Apples and oranges, though, because you aren't typically looking to cannabis to treat serious or life-threatening illnesses. I am in favour of getting sound data on any product that I would be using in my body, and if I use a pharmaceutical product then it's because I've weighed the potential risks and benefits and have decided to go ahead.

    Where I live the local health board employees are in a labour dispute and the school boards have said don't worry about vaccinations until the dispute is settled.  Fuck them.  Kids aren't vaccinated they get suspended.  Quit catering to these idiots...

    But seriously, who among us can look at this objectively?  I cannot, at least not fully.  I would be crushed if any of my 16 "kids" died from some disease in infancy. 

    And yet, looking at it biologically from a biocentric viewpoint, our ability to stymie disease may not be in our own best interest as a species.  That ability is both quite unnatural and probably one the factors that will lead toward our specie becoming extinct earlier than it might have otherwise.   There is a good biological reason for disease and the culling of the weak individuals within all species.   We humans have a very hard time understanding and accepting that.

    Oh, for sure, if you look at this completely objectively, vaccinations play a huge role in the human endeavor to completely ruin the world. Humankind has manages to basically halt natural population control altogether, to the detriment of all other species on Earth. If our interests lie with the planet and all the other species over our own, then we should all be anti-vaxxers, as well as be against all foreign aid, etc etc. Unfortunately, homo erectus also seem to have developed that pesky sense of human morality and community and shit, which really gets in the way of taking care of the planet and our own population controls.

    but how do you control that? isn't it every species' natural instinct to be as plentiful and widespread as possible? but in most cases, other species or environmental conditions keep that in check. we have no checks anymore.

    Right, we have no checks because our intellects and technologies, with the help of our opposable thumbs, have completely outdone nature. It's very unfortunate, technically. And there is no way to control that, only because of that annoying sense of morality we're "burdened" by. Most animals, when the population gets too large for it to be sustainable, will die from disease and famine as they compete for resources until the population is back under control. But people have figured out how to largely overcome disease and famine itself, rather than compete and watch the "losers" die..... And when that isn't happening in certain places in the world, those where resources aren't scarce often try to step in and intervene with medical and food and water supplies, etc etc etc, again, because of that sense of morality (and then there are the horrors, the genocides, etc, which are more about power and greed rather than natural resources, although resources do still play a part in a very inequitable sense, but that never happens on a scale that actually serves to control the human population).

    The only way to control any of this is to lower birth rates. Birth control. Which necessarily means education for women and a reasonably equitable distribution of wealth on a global scale. But with that power and greed issue I mentioned, I can't see that happening. So yeah, it's uncontrollable..... Until a really bad pandemic takes care of it.

    I think our check will eventually come back in the form of the species no longer being able to sustain itself, whether it be food resources, climate change survival, etc. it will be devastating. I just (selfishly) hope it doesn't happen in my or my kids lifetimes.
