If you want a tip from an LA regular, Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles on Manchester. Best mac and cheese you will ever have. Last time, I got to watch a SWAT team mobilize in the parking lot for a hostage situation. The staff thought it was odd I wanted to sit near the window.
I need more of this story.
About the mac and cheese? It is delicious!

I have been to various Roscoe's around town, but I always stop at the one in Inglewood near the airport. There was a wanted murderer who had taken hostages in the block behind Manchester where Roscoe's is located. The LAPD and Inglewood police had the SWAT team in the parking lot and the police helicopters out with the spotlights and everything. For a guy from the suburbs in Canada, it was like watching Boyz in the Hood. The waitress suggested I not sit by the window in case there were shots fired. No shots were fired and the Internet told me they got the guy.

It’s gonna take a moment to process that little over 2 years after seeing Chris Cornell perform with Temple of the Dog at the Forum, it will be a show in the same building without him. Gonna feel the void for sure.

I'd wager that it will be only CC songs, all night, but I could be wrong. Probably main bands performing 2-3 songs each and the individual performers just doing one song between transitions. I think the real challenge will be the mood/atmosphere of the the show. Could get super depressing super fast. Obviously part of the night will be sad, but I think (based on what Tom Morello said) that they want to keep it as a celebration of Chris' work and not some morose cry-fest. Hopefullly Kimmel will crack some jokes and the bands will have fun.
That's my guess as well. I kinda wonder if they'll be doing a rotating stage sorta thing or just set up a shit ton of gear on stage. Most of the time in this sort of thing is eaten up by transitions between groups. Is there a curfew at the forum? 11?

A lot of lower bowl sections have tickets available now on ticketmaster. And not just the side views like I saw yesterday.

Anyone know if the 7:00 time listed on the tickets is for doors or actual show time? This is definitely an event that I don't want to be late for.

Are many of you flying in for this? I've been wavering as to whether to make the trek from Vancouver, and can still get a relatively cheap airline ticket. However, I feel like the commercialism/hollywood production of this will detract from the main focus (i.e. making it more like an awards show than a concert). In many ways, I wish it was in Seattle with smaller names on the bill. For example, I'm not aware of any strong connection between Metallica and CC, and thus, would prefer to just have his close friends honouring his music without all the bells and whistles. I hope that I am wrong in that regard, and wish everyone going the best.

I am hoping that other special guests means some big names who couldn't fully commit when the announcement went out. As a total half ass guess, GNR comes to mind as Duff is friends with everyone in Seattle and they were playing Soundgarden covers after CC died.

Some of the special guests have already been unveiled: Mike Patton, Perry Farrell, and Josh Freese.

Flying in from Chicago. Not thrilled with so many Hollywood types being added (Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine???).  The original lineup of Ryan Adams, Metallica and Foo Fighters was intriguing as I'm a fan of all three.  This feels like it's getting more like MTV/Grammy vibe.

I have gotten through 42 years of life with 0 Adam Levine involvement and I am sad it is coming to an end.
