The Official New York Yankees Thread

My prediction is the Phillies get Manny for about 310 and the Nats get Harper for 350.
Tulo has played 66 games in 2 years. Ellsbury has played more recently.
Gardner lost his job to Andrew McCutchen
Miguel Andujar (who I love), was removed from a playoff game because of defensive purposes.
After getting within 1 game of the world series, then winning 100 games and losing to your arch rival (who rolled through the playoffs and had the highest payroll in baseball), these are the guys you're counting on in 2019? Plus a big bounce back from Sanchez?
So as of now, this is the Yankees...
Sahchez (question mark)
Bird/Voit (huge question mark)
Torres (the man, but young)
Tulo (lol)
Miggy (the man, but horrible defense)
Judge (the actual man)
Stanton (expect a real god year)
Hicks (solid)
Gardner (lost his job)
And absolutely no depth at this moment. Need more.
Then Drob gets an extremely reasonable contract from the Phillies, but the Yankees are gonna end up paying Britton $40 mil+ probably and I don't think is as good.
Be the Yanks, Hal. 2017 cannot be the peak for this team.

Bubba Crosby is our center fielder. There's no other way to explain it.

would have preferred the Robertson contract but seems like that was never an option with the playofff stuff
did they really sign a ground ball reliever only to have that infield kick it around?!0 -
So this pretty much means the Yankees are getting him since my philosophy is that the exact opposite of whatever this dude reports, happens.
That said, I don't think it is. Forget his bat, gonna be fun when CC and Britton are getting tons of ground balls....0 -
I really don’t get what’s going on with machado. Now they’re saying his wife wants to go to New York...gotta figure he’s squeezing the last few cents out of the Phillies or he is really desperate for the Yankees.
He wants New York
his wife wants New York
New York wants him (on their terms clearly)
And they can’t figure this out?
Or, more likely, he doesn’t give that much of a shit about New York but he wants the Phillies and White Sox to think he does.
I have been convincing myself that I am good with miggy. He’s something like $30 million a year less and awesome. But if that is the case, I just don’t see how tulo fits. There’s no Fucking way they go 3 months with that infield defense. No way
As it stands now, I don’t think this team is quite there or good enough to beat Boston but it is still a really good team. If things break right, that’s a World Series team, but there are a good number of question marks

I think it's about the length of the contracts. A lot of owners are not willing to sign players for a lot of years. If this was 5 years ago both Machado and Harper would be signed already. There are a lot of free agents still unsigned. It's been said that their could be another work stoppage at the next CBA. A lot of players are becoming first time free agents at 30-33 like Judge, Sanchez, and Didi. deGrom of the Mets won't be a free agent until he's 33. Sportrac has Judge's market value at $26.7 million. deGrom at $32 million.

Report: Machado expected to land deal worth $220-$270 million4h agoRob Tringali / Major League Baseball / Getty
The Manny Machado sweepstakes might be getting too pricey for the New York Yankees' liking.
Machado is expected to receive a contract in the range of $220 million-to-$270 million over "probably" no more than seven years, sources within the Yankees organization told Wallace Matthews of NY Daily News.
The Yankees continue to be linked to the 26-year-old - and he appears to prefer a move to the Bronx - but there is no guarantee the club will sign him if his deal reaches the top end of the seven-year, $270-million figure, according to Matthews.
New York seemingly already has a contingency plan, as it signed Troy Tulowitzki on Jan. 1, who is expected to play shortstop until Didi Gregorius recovers from Tommy John surgery.
Tulowitzki said he would like to play with Machado on the left side of New York's infield and it's been reported the signing won't stop the team from pursuing the four-time All-Star.
In addition to the Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox are reportedly serious contenders in the Machado sweepstakes.
