  • I really don’t get what’s going on with machado. Now they’re saying his wife wants to go to New York...gotta figure he’s squeezing the last few cents out of the Phillies or he is really desperate for the Yankees.

    He wants New York
    his wife wants New York
New York wants him (on their terms clearly)

And they can’t figure this out?

Or, more likely, he doesn’t give that much of a shit about New York but he wants the Phillies and White Sox to think he does.

I have been convincing myself that I am good with miggy. He’s something like $30 million a year less and awesome. But if that is the case, I just don’t see how tulo fits. There’s no Fucking way they go 3 months with that infield defense. No way

As it stands now, I don’t think this team is quite there or good enough to beat Boston but it is still a really good team. If things break right, that’s a World Series team, but there are a good number of question marks

Imagibe plugging Harper or machado in there though?! Good god
Who are you going to blame when they don’t make the playoffs?

I think it's about the length of the contracts. A lot of owners are not willing to sign players for a lot of years. If this was 5 years ago both Machado and Harper would be signed already. There are a lot of free agents still unsigned. It's been said that their could be another work stoppage at the next CBA. A lot of players are becoming first time free agents at 30-33 like Judge, Sanchez, and Didi. deGrom of the Mets won't be a free agent until he's 33. Sportrac has Judge's market value at $26.7 million. deGrom at $32 million.

So you might see plenty 1 or 2 year deals
Wild the reports are the Yankees haven’t made an offer but the Phillies are about to be on their second. What do you think of all this?
I don't know anymore. If he really wants to come here he'll take less years. Some are saying they might offer a 4 year deal so he's a free agent again at 30. I would like him to be a Yankee. But we did win 100 games.

Yeah.  Keep going back to the 100 wins.  They won 100 games with Sanchez and Bird contributing nothing, Stanton having a very good but not Stanton year, Sonny Gray being borderline terrible, Judge missing 6+ weeks and Severino falling off a cliff in the 2nd half.

That said, they got surprises in Miggy and Torres being absolute studs, which I am not sure they can completely count on next year.  Also question whether Sanchez bounces back. I think he does, but they can't count on it.

Machado just makes the lineup soooooo much more difficult and goes along way shoring up some of that infield defense, especially while Didi is out.

I just don't think this team as it stands is better than that Red Sox team.

Didi also missed some time but had his best year power wise. Also our bullpen helped a lot. Most of them are back

Heyman has Manny still looking for $325 mil +.  Doesn't seem to be out there, but someone will get close to 3.  It's not what you want

The Yankees are going to be really good.  They could very well win the World Series. At the same rate, they could very well lose in the wildcard game.

That said, this team had a chance to become Golden State this off-season and passed.  Hal is a joke.

I can't believe this.  For sure expected Machado to sign with the Yankees.  The fact that it sounds like he was dying to sign with them and it didn't happen is crazy.  Maybe the white sox do actually have a shot with him.

I am kinda shocked now that it is official.  It's honestly a disgrace. A 100 win team just watched their rival stomp their way to the world series and there are perfect upgrades out there.  Granted, what they are trying to upgrade is still really really good, but it's just unacceptable.

No to point 1 (Not with the rotation as it stands currently)
Big yes to point 2. What a difference from dad to the sons. Dad liked to win, sons like to make money.
    This weekend we rock Portland

If they stay healthy, I am fine with this rotation. They don't have a Verlander or a Sale as it stands, but they have a number of very good pitchers.  Hopefully Severino can step up.  Obviously have a stacked bullpen too

The middle infield of the amazing 2015 Rockies.  God damn right, Hal!

Granted neither of them will likely be starters come June, but you know.

$12 Mil/yr for a utility infielder but won't go after Machado...that's some good financing there.

a lot of teams are giving 1-2 year deals. Some sign for 1 year $20+ million. They don't want to give out 10 years
