    Ugh.
And no, it’s not enough. It needs to be a chorus. For the sake of the nation.
You want a chorus, but you criticize the solo.  How about taking one at a time?  Winning in politics is not about slaying your opponent, it's about getting more people to vote for your position.  Telling people who made a mistake or didn't speak loudly enough for your liking to "own this" is not the way to convince those people of your righteous position and to join you.
I’m not willing to forgive them for their trespasses. They need to repent and be absolved of their sins. They should have known better. Is that my fault?
It's unreasonable and not connected with man's nature at all.
    What’s unreasonable?
Your Catholic-like expectations of people who voted for Trump are unreasonable.
There are deplorables that are irredeemable, to be sure.  But there are another 10+% of the country that voted for him that are not the "base".  Shaming them or telling them to 'repent' will not win their vote.  Broaden the coalition, don't shrink it.
I’m not shaming them to vote Democrat, I’m shaming them for voting or supporting Team Trump Treason and shaming them to speak the fuck up against the idiot in chief and support someone within their party more capable and intelligent. Team Trump Treason should be primaried by several candidates at least. If not, they’re normalizing this train wreck. How can anyone who claims any religiosity support Team Trump Treason? Where are the outraged clergy? Those evangelicals? Fucking hypocrites. This is the chorus I’m referring to. One lone Mormon and his op-Ed ain’t going to change a thing.

Too many of them will split the vote.  Hopefully one semi-tolerable one rises to the top and gives him a run.  However, while working out last night one of the TVs was on MSNBC, which showed a poll that Trump has 88% approval from Republicans.  I don't see him losing the nomination.

There’s no vision there. Just a call to be who one should be pre Team Trump Treason. Given that, repub policies are still ruinous to the average person. Bain Capital and leveraged buyouts is what MAGA is all about. Fuck Mitt and his magic underwear.
Easy on the LDS insults.  Let's not pretend that we will have mainline conservatives suddenly signing onto medicare for all, or that they will be anti-tax cuts.  This isn't the real world.  But it's important to have real conservatives appropriately criticizing Trump's behavior.  Romney did that day one and I commend him for that.  I welcome any other conservative, Kasich, Sasse, anyone, to do the same.  We don't have to agree on policy to agree on being a human.
Do they not believe in magic underwear? How was I insulting? Regardless, the criticism of Team Trump Treason should have been outspoken the day he announced his candidacy and it should have been sustained and in depth. Instead, Mitt and others stepped aside and allowed this idiot to be elected. He owns it. If he votes for removal from office after a trial, I may give Mitt a modicum of respect. Realizing three years after the fact doesn’t grant you hero worship status.

Be that as it may, the country needs advocates for righteousness and the rule of law.  I don't care what any politician thinks about the marginal tax rate at this point.  Anyone who joins the team with teh moral compass, I welcome them regardless of when they join.
Sounds more like Mitt is positioning himself for a 2020 challenge. He’ll go along with Mitchy baby more often than not. Now, if he changed parties because of the repubs being the Team Trump Treason party? That would be cajones.

     #walkawaymitt
He is a republican. Do you expect him not to vote for typical republican things?

There's a difference between voting for republican policy stuff and for calling out the president when it is necessary and when it will really count once the Mueller report is out....
And Mitts been consistent. He called out Trump during the primary.

And he also trekked on over to the White House and kissed Team Trump Treason’s ass, perhaps for SoS consideration? Unless there are actual actions taken by repubs to oppose Team Trump Treason, it’s all empty rhetoric. Publically calling for investigations, publically supporting Team Mueller and legislation that does so and publically opposing legislation like a fucking border wall that Mexico will pay for, will get my attention. A one and done op-ed is meaningless unless his actions in the senate oppose Team Trump Treason’s incompetence. Like unqualified judicial nominees, the wall, withdrawal from treaties, etc. The repubs are still afraid of him and his idiot base.
You don’t know what was discussed or said. If just meeting with trump is a problem for you, then no one is good enough.

The morality of Mitt meeting with the immoral Team Trump Treason is what I’m wrestling with. The squeaky clean Mormon Mitt meeting with and legitimizing a truce married, porn star banging, cheating on Melania immoral Team Trump Treason. I could give two shits what was discussed. Do you think it was a come to Jesus meeting? An intervention?

What was likely discussed was Mitt's vision for the foreign policy of the United States.  How can you not give a shit?  It doesn't make sense.  And remember, back just two years ago, there were many who were hopeful that Trump could be guided by rational people.  I'm not saying there was a real shot that was the case, but it was the only shot back in 2016, post election.  There was no other option.
Every repub and those who voted for Team Trump Treason own that shit. Anyone who was in the know or paid attention to Team Trump Treason’s 30-40 year career previous to running for president knew he doesn’t listen to rationality or that anyone with cache was going to have influence. Mitt to the rescue for meeting with him and now writing an op-Ed, much too little way too fucking late.

Sorry, but that's a bunch of bullshit.  David French has been criticizing Trump from day one, Kristol, Dreher, Sullivan, Parker, Brooks, etc.  My brother in law is a professor and colonel at the Naval Academy.  He has hated Trump from the moment he walked down that escalator and has been merciless in the criticism.  His dog's name is Reagan.  He's a Republican.  He doesn't own that anymore than you own Anthony Weiner's record.
    Did he vote Hillary?
This is a good question. I would very much like to know how Republicans who claim to hate Trump voted in 2016. I mean, Trump won with far more votes than there are actual Trump fans, so, you know, that's telling when it comes to how much blame rests with so-called sound minded Republicans.

"Too little too late..." What a bunch of horse shit. So when it comes time to vote on impeachment, I'm guessing you don't want their votes either? Because, you know, that will be a bit later on. Get real, man. Republicans during Watergate didn't turn on Nixon until the very end.

All rational people would've preferred the repubs to have been up in arms from day one (like most are in private, apparently), but that's not reality, unfortunately. The real test will be when the Mueller shit finally hits the fan and there's no way to excuse what's in the report. Mitt's op-ed was a nice start to the new congress. Sets the right tone. Gotta be patient and let this play out...

The Dems have the votes in the house for impeachment so I’m not worried about that. The real proof will be whether 20 repubs in the senate will have a spine to convict and remove him from office. 11 of those 20 are up for re-election in 2020. If they don’t vote to convict, based on factual evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors via Team Mueller, and not chants of lock him up and get re-elected, what do we have then? The drum beat and the chorus needs to start now with Repubs pressuring their repub representatives to allow the Team Mueller investigation to go go forth and be released publically without hindrance. Waiting until impeachment hearings or the release of Team Mueller’s report is too late. And we need more prominent repubs to be speaking up and out forcefully, joining Mitt. Meh.  I'm not worried about the youth.  They are very liberal by and large.  My daughter is in business school at W&M, and she's in a business fraternity as well.  She tells me that most everyone hates Trump and his beliefs.  And this is business school.  When I was in college, that was all Young Republicans.

Paging Tom I’m a Warrior Hear Me Roar Cotton? Did you see or read of what Team Trump Treason spouted yesterday? Do you not see what further erosion of civil rights and protections he’s proposing? And yet 88% of repubs support him. Yea, I’m impatient because his fascist and nationalist ways are being normalized. Hell, his cray cray is being normalized.
Mitt's in the senate, so that's obviously what I meant and it would not be too late.

I understand the sentiment but I don't think you're looking things as rationally as you should be.

Rationally? What’s not rational is Team Trump Treason rambling incoherently for 90 minutes while those who remain in his cabinet look sheepishly on and remain silent. And the repub establishment and echo chamber go on tv and rationalize it away likes it’s just an awe shucks moment.
