They actually are. You're just missing it because they aren't doing it by headlines. Look into what's happening with the healthcare system including what Seema Verma has been doing to transform the healthcare system. You see, she realizes it takes time to move a complicated system and 70,000 pages of legislation and Billions of dollars given away vs. creating proper incentives and structural changes. It will also be an iterative process. It won't be a straight line. But, there are things being put in place the last couple years and ongoing that is going to transform the system. However, it's not a straight giveaway, so some people think it's not happening.

Yes. Today's vote was just to prevent filibustering, so the vote goes forward. The interesting thing is it's more likely someone who voted yes today vote no tomorrow than the other way around. I'm not talking about individuals. Just in concept.

The fact is the Democrats look really bad on this. The Republicans have followed every procedure properly. As a matter of fact they went above and beyond past precedent despite the rhetoric (funny Ford's lawyers now want a private interview after neglecting to tell her that was offered before).
All this did was allow the vote which at this point they absolutely is what they should be doing and should have been approved 100-0.

Tomorrow night's vote is all that matters. So, the Dems voted against prescribed procedure today. Tomorrow, Manchin and Collins can vote against and look like the smartest people in the room (if a no vote is what you're after).

Saying the Republicans have followed every procedure properly on this is ridiculously absurd. The Republicans have done their best to push this nomination through without regards for normal, due process. Both Republicans and Democrats requested Kavanaugh's writings from theBush Library. When the library said they could not deliver them before October, which was not unreasonable given there is no hard deadline for approving the nomination, the GOP basically said "nevermind, we don't need the documents". Of the papers they do have, the GOP's "independent" reviewer to determine which of the documents the Democrats were permitted to view is the lawyer for Steve Bannon and McGahn. McGahn's swan song before he's fired by Trump is to plow through with his SC candidate. And the latest FBI investigation/background check, which is routine for accusations against federal judiciary candidates at any time during the process, was restricted by Trump to ensure no new details emerge that could hurt Kavanaugh. Of course Trump blamed the Senate for the restrictions, and the GOP Senators blamed Trump and everyone in GOP is happy with that because they can say they "followed every procedure properly", "went above and beyond" - went above and beyond to push through a candidate who any reasonable person would reject. There are plenty of equally qualified conservative judges who are more dignified, respectful and less partisan than Kavanaugh. Mitch McConnell wouldn't hire Kavanaugh to be his intern, but he's fine putting him on the Supreme Court - victory!
