[Kidding; my vote's for the Screaming Trees.  But Harvey Danger -- they were on staff at the UW student paper, weren't they?]

Not sure about that, but wouldn't surprise me. I know Sean Nelson (Harvey Danger's singer) is the arts editor for The Stranger, our alternative Seattle weekly newspaper. He's been there since the late 90's. BTW, Harvey Danger was a fun band to see back then.

And Screaming Trees was my favorite local band back in the day (so not 2nd Tier for me). Saw them play many times in the 90's and they always put on amazing shows.

Sunny Day is such a great underrated band from the 90s.

Listen to "Diary", "How it Feels to Be Something On" and "Rising Tide"- all great albums

LP2 isn't bad but it was a little thrown together after their initial breakup but some hard core fans like it the best.

I have to say that, until this thread was posted, I’d never even heard of Some Velvet Sidewalk. I’ve never heard them on the radio, or through friends, I haven’t even seen mentioned on the forum before.

I tried some Sunny Day Real Estate last night, because of the praise they're getting in this thread.  I dunno.  Maybe iTunes doesn't have the best sample tracks, but everything sounded like the same song and the lead singer sounds way too whiny for me.  I feel like a few of my friends who were into "emo" listened to them back in the day.  Yeah, you can count me out on that.
