Fenway Flippers

unknownunknown Posts: 531
So we are a day away, just wondering if you think they will let the flippers buy 10 to 20
posters again or if the real fans actually have a shot.  I sure hope i'm able to at least score
one.  I saw someone post on youtube a video of a woman buying over $2000 worth of merch

Relax. They did not allow this to happen in 2016 from what I saw. Did not allow this to happen in Chicago last week when I was there. Can easily buy $2K of stuff when combined with all the other stuff. Whole big thread on this topic already.

Said it once, and I'll say it again...it's all supply and demand.  I don't particularly like flippers, but they're seizing an opportunity.  If they are willing to stand in line for hours and, if no one is regulating the amounts purchased, load up on what they think they can make money off of...that's up to them.  People get upset because they want to sit at a local pub, drink beer and because they are a fan...should be able to stroll up to the merchandise tent right before the show and buy what they want.

The fans are the flippers. Most of them are probably 10c members as well who are using merch as a way to fund their trips. The idea of the big bad flippers with no tickets to the show just standing in line to get stuff to sell on eBay is misplaced. Do those type of people exist too? I'm sure there are some but the vast majority of flippers are fans of the band with tickets to the show.

And if you click his name and look at the past discussions he has started, they are all similar, where he acts clueless to what is going on, yet he has sold posters and memorabilia on here in the past...or at least attempted to (multiple closed threads on the same Lost Dogs postings).

Hahaha!! Yep. I said this a few weeks back. It's "Joe Pearl Jam Fan" - the guy next to you at the show who "seems cool" that are the ones cashing in along with the eBayer's, etc.,

I know Steve Thomas kind of did the Fenway thing already in 2016 for his poster, but somebody has to incorporate Steve Horgan (bullpen security) into their poster this year.  "Arms raised in a V"

How is flipping looked down upon, but someone selling their collection for more than face acceptable?

What you're hoping for is to get one without any effort...flippers don't 'hope' to get one.  If they want one, they do what they need to do.

I think the frustration with flipping depends on how bad it is? Selling 1 to help pay for a trip, I can understand.  Buying 20 at a time and going straight to eBay is not cool

They weren't letting anyone buy more than 2 or each in Chicago.   But just like everything they will find a way around it.   Two times I was in the merch line, a few people in the front of the line had "friends" get in line with them last minute....and they all walked out with 2 of every poster.   Have to call those people out......or it will go from 100th person in line getting shut out to the 80th person in line.
    Like a word misplaced...nothing said...what a waste
