Taking a WHOLE week off from Trumpito was pretty special...from Saturday the 9th to Saturday the 16th.
No CNN, no breaking news, no Breitbart either, no bullshit. If you've never been to Amsterdam you should make plans immediately. That place is ridiculous. After traveling much of Saturday and sleeping like I was in a coma, I watched the US Open all day yesterday and a repeat of Bill Maher's show from Friday the 15th and that has been my whole exposure to that orange SOB.

Have we colonized North Korea yet?

"Both sides" is BS on this one. It's a platitude we like to use to show that we are being balanced. But this is not a "both sides" issue. Neither is our current march toward authoritarianism. One side is responsible for the truly gross things that are going on right now. One side could stop the breaking up of families within 30 seconds. And one side could push back against all the Hitlerific things this administration is nodding toward.

Hung out a bit with my right wing sister in law and he husband yesterday.

It's amazing how the conversation jumps around. My SIL was blabbing a bunch of Fox talking points, I point that out and she says "I don't watch the news any more", then tries to tell me how Fox is the only conservative voice and that all the other networks are the liberal voices and Fox still beats them. Yeah....think about that for a minute.

I was trying to ask her specifically about the deficits under tRump....whether those bothered her as much as the deficits under Obama. She doesn't care about deficits now. She just cares about her household income and whether it is better or not.

I then tried to ask what she thought about the lawsuit against tRump regarding his foundation. She wasn't bothered at all by the voucher showing the foundation paying off a personal law suit of tRump's because "look at all the Russian money that the Clinton foundation got".

This country is fucked.

It's unbelievable. I used to talk about how we had to stand in awe of the GOP being able to convince voters that Hillary was worse than tRump. Now I am seeing how the GOP is able to convince people that the truth is not the truth.

I talked to someone prior to the election who said something to the effect of Trump is terrible.

"Who knows what he will do? Will he get us into a war... Or multiple wars? Will he insult the wrong person? Will he crate problems with our allies? Will he push the economy off the cliff?"

He went on to say that he felt compelled to vote for Trump anyway, because President Clinton "would be what we have now (Obama), which is nothing".
