Something along the line of an "Oh my god, what are we doing?" thread. 

This quote from the article you posted, Thirty, really gets to me: 

"It is becoming increasingly clear that plastic in our oceans is a core threat to marine life in the decades to come.  Approximately 5 trillion pieces of plastic are estimated to be floating around the world's oceans based on a recent study. To make matters worse, marine experts believe the total weight of plastic in our oceans could outweigh fish i the world's oceans by 2050."

We have to deal with this or face extinction.  Jacques Cousteau said a long time ago, "If the oceans die, we die."  The oceans are dying and yet we keep dumping plastic into the ocean.  There has to be a way to stop this, but I don't see many governments doing anything..  This is why I support Sea Shepherds.  They are one of the few organizations are are actually doing something to save marine life and the oceans.  Even Greenepeace (bless them for there earnest though misguided efforts) are not really doing much besides protesting.  It's time to do more than protest.  It's more than time to do something.

Remember you choose the animal.  They trust you.  It is your responsibility to care for that animal and give the animal proper care...

Failure to do so should be a heavy fine and or imprisonment, which should include a lifetime ban from you owning an animal...

The lady in this story should be stuck in the back of a locked-up car in 29 C heat...with no water...for 3 hours...let's see how the bitch enjoys it.
