They've got those nailed down, that's for sure.  The way I see it, congressional behavior is pushing a lot of people toward dislike and distrust of government.  They play by a whole set of different rules (i.e. the things you listed) and yet expect us to honor them as representing us, their constituents.  It's a sad state of affairs and getting worse.

No, that’s not correct. The days in session are not the only work days. You guys all love to bash politicians but I’ve known a few provincial politicians in Canada and they work incredibly long hours. When they are in their constituency they tend to go to endless community events, nights and weekends, as well as being in their offices during week days. 

Now, you might disagree with what they do, but they do put in hours far beyond those in session.

No, that’s not correct. The days in session are not the only work days. You guys all love to bash politicians but I’ve known a few provincial politicians in Canada and they work incredibly long hours. When they are in their constituency they tend to go to endless community events, nights and weekends, as well as being in their offices during week days.

Teachers are all underworked, overpaid, government  tools  to brainwash your children

You know, I'm amazed at how the teachers union has brainwashed everyone.  Teachers have a tremendous time off each year.  And they actually make a pretty decent living in most places.  The fact they have to lesson plan in the evening some times is no different then most people that take work home.  The only thing that drives me nuts in regards to teachers is the fact that they have to pay for many supplies on their own (or in the more affluent neighborhoods the parents send it all in).  That is crap, we should fund the school to provide a certain level of spending for the teachers on this sort of stuff and then they budget.  It's stupid and annoying.

But back on congress....I still really don't know what the right % in washington and the right % back "home" is....but I feel we'd get a far better product both places if we had term limits and eliminated all the campaigning all the time.

We’d get a better product if we took money out of campaigning. We have term limits, they’re called elections.

Elections lead to more time campaigning....but I agree about the $ part.
