11 Yr Old‘s Birthday Present !
Today is my son’s 11th Birthday. As part of his birthday present I gave him a ticket to go see PJ at Fenway 1 with me. It will be his first ever concert.
Weird to think I saw my first PJ show on 4/06/94, and I am now taking my own kid to see a show. Sad to say I don’t have any cool memories of me doing something like this with my father. I am now really looking forward to this show more than ever. I have been quizzing my son on the names of PJ songs for the past few weeks as we listen at home. He is getting good too !
Anyone else out there have a similar experience like this to share ? Would really like to hear how it went. Was kind of emotional when I gave him the ticket I made for him this morning.
Would love to hear other stories or thoughts. Or was this just a shitty gift, and I should just taken my normal ticket buddy and partied ?? lol

I've seen a number of concerts with my mom. She was always into rock and roll, but dealing with two teenagers during the early-to-mid 90s exposed her to a lot of alternative. I took her to Mansfield 1 in 2003, and Fenway 2 back in 2016 (and we've been to several other shows together). I think it's very cool to experience events like these with family.
Hartford 10.02.96 | Mansfield 2 09.16.98 | Mansfield 1 08.29.00 | Mansfield 1 07.02.03 | Mansfield 3 07.11.03 | Boston 2 05.25.06 | Tampa 04.11.16 | Fenway 1 08.05.16 | Fenway 2 08.07.16 | Fenway 1 09.02.18 | Fenway 2 09.04.18 | Baltimore 03.28.20 | Hamilton 09.06.22 | Toronto 09.08.22 | Nashville 09.16.22 | St Louis 09.18.22
"He made the deal with the devil, we get to play with him.
He goes to hell, of course. We're going to heaven."
Only observation I can share is that after about 2 hours he started to get tired and a bit antsy. Keep him engaged and don't be afraid to miss some of the show to take a break .
it's even more special seeing your children enjoy the show!
I only felt bad telling him I wasn’t planning on taking him to the Home Shows, but he’s still too young (and small) for GA. He did wrangle a promise to take him next time PJ comes to Vancouver, though.
{{My parents took me to see my first rock concert - The Who’s Quadrophenia - in 1996 when I was 16. I wish they’d started me younger!}}

A few weeks ago I told him that he might has to join me on one show if my friend will not be able to come with me... lol.. he even doesn't like PJ's music very much... Hard to believe right? Sooo... he didn't say no yet...
i was a bit nervous, but that has subsided in the past few days. I am still waiting at 44 for my dad to take me to my first concert !! For me it was Tom Petty w/ The Replacements opening, on the Full Moon Fever Tour !
My dad is the reason I love music so much, and we only got to go to one show together before he passed--The Who. His favorite band, and a band that is up there for me, as well. Took me for my 16th birthday in 2008, and hadn't seen the band since Woodstock. He said it was the happiest he's ever seen me. Such amazing memories.
I wish I could have taken him to a PJ show--I used to show him videos all the time, and he expressed wanting to go with me.
You're going to make amazing memories together! Give us a full report after the show!

Have since taken him to Guns n Roses, Green Day (his favorite band), U2 and the B52s. Taking him to U2 and the Pumpkins this summer.
Figured I'd better take the opportunity to get him to see DLR and EVH together as well as Axl and Slash together as you never know if those opportunities will continue.
Hasn't shown interest in PJ yet, which my ticket buddy is happy about.
My parents never took me to any concerts when I was young (doubt I'd have been interested in the acts they liked anyway), so I didn't get to go to a show till I was 15 and took the T into the Garden with friends.
Its definitely cool to be able to share musical experiences with your kid, enjoy. See you at Fenway.
