I paid $35 for tickets in the upper level for the U2-Joshua Tree show in Cleveland last year and really enjoyed it.
We had a perfect view of the "satellite" stage they opened the show on...

LeeAnn talked me in to doing Wrigley 1.
After running thru all of the expenses for this trip,
we decided it would be easier & much more affordable to rent a car here in Columbus and drive out to Seattle.
We did all the calculations...It was going to cost us around $600 each to fly out to Seattle,
$1000 to rent a round trip car for the time we would need it to do the Seattle & Missoula shows...
or $2000 if we did a one-way rental car and flew home from Missoula.
That was actually a good option for flights, but the 2K rental car situation put a big NO on that.
I can get a round trip rental car here in Columbus for the 18 days we'll need it for a little over $500...
and that allows us to pick up the Wrigley show.
We're gonna spend a whole week in Seattle,
and then stopping to visit all the tourist attractions on the drive back to Chicago.
LeeAnn has never been west of the Mississippi River and she's looking forward to the roadtrip.'96: Seattle: Key Arena

It's public info, plenty available for this summer's msg shows. Filter out resale to get true face value. When these shows first went onsale prices were insane. Still very expensive prime tickets compared to PJ.

No there are cheaper seats, but the point is that face value of some balcony seats for this year's U2 shows is $325.00 also the majority of lowers are that price, and the Ticketmaster fees on top of that were $52.50 a ticket making it almost a $400 ticket, in the balcony in some cases. Not resale. Actual face value, blue dots on the map.
Check out the map
Look at for example section 211, check out the blue dots, they are $331.00 plus fees, and the group of 8 together in row 3 is "limited view" for that price (shockingly they haven't sold)

I've been trying to say other prime artists charge much more for prime seats in my little city. Been getting some pushback. But it's there, go to TM, see U2 at msg this summer for $350 face for upper level seats.
What I don't get about PJ is they price every ticket the same, but treat the value very differently. In other words if you weren't here in 1999, you ain't getting a good seat, ever. Yet they all cost the same
Are they all worth the same, or are the good seats so valuable, only a select few can ever get access? I'm confused.0 -

Such a stadium with that name no longer exists. It's 51% puke green now. Cuz. Field color.0 -
U2 does it weird. They always do their floor GA, and sell the GA tickets at a reasonable price. Then they charge a fortune for seated seats. The trick to U2 was always to buy a fan membership and use it to buy GA tickets.
I agree that PJ tickets aren't really out of line. Ticket prices really started to spike up again the last few years. Metallica tickets over $200 (for good tickets), GNR was $250 for good tickets etc...
Foo Fighters are cheaper though. $243 Canadian for a pair of tickets, and they sent me presale access for free

Ticket prices have risen over the last few years to make up for the fact that artists cannot sell albums any more since people generally get all music for free on the line

Bingo. I agree. But I chose to pay for every digital album. Old school.
PJs model is a little different. Due to their membership revenue, they have somewhat insulated themselves from this market reality.
By charging significantly less for prime seats, they have developed an enormously loyal fanbase. That will ride it out with them til the end.
Definitely smart business moves, but really chucks that most fans are iced out of the best seats forever.Post edited by Lerxst1992 on0 -
